I was able to successfully copy a hard disk drive that was failing with bad sectors to another good storage drive using the tool CloneZilla. I have used CloneZilla for years and it has been very helpful. I use it to make copies and "images" of whole systems. This saves me a lot of time or allows me to do things that I wouldn't otherwise be able to. The laptop pictured is being "imaged" with CloneZilla and the image is being saved on the external hard drive to the right of the laptop. CloneZilla is based on Linux and I usually live boot it from a USB drive. #CloneZilla #Linux image

"Made in Philippines" I grabbed this drive to do a data transfer and noticed the label that says where it was made. Do any of my followers from the Philippines know if hard drives are still being made there? Anyone know anyone who works for a tech company? (manufacturing or other). #toshiba #philippines image

Every week, I do a drawing for a computer giveaway. I use the Linux core utility 'shuf' to randomly select a subscriber of my email newsletter. This week I will be giving away a refurbished Lenovo ThinkCentre M710q Tiny with Linux pre-installed (or $50 worth of BCH or XMR) For a chance to win, just be a subscriber. #Linux #TinyMiniMicro #Lenovo #giveAway #BitcoinCash

"There are two ways PC makers can offer low-cost computers. One is to use newer components that are designed to be cheap. Another is to select older components that used to cost a lot of money, but which can now be purchased at a discount." The Xeon processors in these are really good, but more than ten years old. I'd prefer to build my own, but I think it is great that some PC maker companies are doing this. I wish they'd pair AMD graphics with these instead of nVidia... but likely they can more easily source the nVidia graphics. #Intel #Xeon
