According to an exclusive report from Axios, the United States has been holding sensitive discussions with several countries about forming an international peacekeeping force for deployment to the Gaza Strip. Washington reportedly plans to present Israel with a detailed proposal in the coming days or weeks. The proposed force, organized under U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and called the International Stabilization Force (ISF), would include a new Palestinian police force—trained and vetted by the United States, Egypt, and Jordan—alongside troops from multiple Arab and Muslim nations that have expressed interest in joining. So far, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, and Turkey have publicly indicated their willingness to contribute forces to the ISF. image

According to an exclusive *CNN* report, Lt. Gen. Joseph “JP” McGee, Director for Strategy, Plans, and Policy on the Joint Staff, was “pushed out” of his Pentagon post earlier this month after months of mounting tension with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan “Raizin” Caine. The disputes reportedly centered on issues ranging from Russia and Ukraine to U.S. military operations in the Caribbean. Appointed by President Joe Biden in 2024, McGee was viewed by some within the Office of the Secretary of Defense as being too closely aligned with the Pentagon’s “old guard,” particularly former Chairman Gen. Mark Milley and former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. Both Hegseth and Caine were also said to have grown frustrated with McGee’s perceived slow pace of action—a complaint they reportedly shared toward Adm. Alvin Holsey, Commander of U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), who announced his retirement earlier this month following sharp disagreements with Hegseth and Caine over the legality of ongoing military strikes on suspected drug traffickers in the Caribbean. image

Flights at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., were temporarily halted earlier today following reports of an “active air defense incident” northeast of the nation’s capital. Two F-16C Fighting Falcons from the District of Columbia Air National Guard’s 121st Fighter Squadron were scrambled from Joint Base Andrews, along with an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from the U.S. Coast Guard’s Blackjack Unit, to investigate a radar contact involving an “unidentified object” around 2:30 p.m. north of Washington. Details regarding the incident and the nature of the object remain unclear. Reagan National Airport referred all requests for comment to the Pentagon. Air traffic control audio captures the moment flights were grounded at the airport amid the reported “active air defense incident” north of Washington, D.C. image

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that Iran does not appear to be actively enriching uranium at the moment, though the agency has recently observed renewed activity at several of the country’s nuclear sites. “However, the nuclear material enriched to 60% remains in Iran,” Grossi said. “This is one of the key issues under discussion—we need to return and verify that the material is still there and has not been diverted for any other purpose.” Grossi added, “We are conducting inspections in Iran and gradually resuming our work, but we are not inspecting the sites that were bombed.” image

Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) announced that on Saturday, October 25, it conducted an operation in Russia’s Kemerovo Oblast—more than 2,000 miles from Ukraine—that resulted in the death of Lt. Col. Veniamin Vladimirovich Mazherin, a member of the Russian National Guard’s OMON “Obereg Unit.” Mazherin had been accused of war crimes committed near Kyiv at the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, including the killing of civilians, forced deportations, and other atrocities. Identified as part of “Obereg” in April, he was reportedly killed by a car bomb, likely planted by an agent of Ukraine’s special services operating inside Russia.
