According to officials who spoke with Axios, the Trump Administration on Monday circulated a draft resolution to several members of the U.N. Security Council outlining plans to establish an international force in the Gaza Strip. The proposal would grant the United States and other participating nations a broad mandate to govern and provide security in Gaza through the end of 2027. Officials emphasized that the proposed International Security Force (ISF) would be “an enforcement force, not a peacekeeping force,” comprising troops from multiple countries and formed in coordination with the Gaza “Board of Peace,” chaired by President Donald J. Trump. Under the draft, the ISF would be responsible for securing Gaza’s borders with Israel and Egypt, protecting civilians and humanitarian corridors, and training a new Palestinian police force to work alongside it. The resolution further states that the ISF’s mission is to “stabilize the security environment in Gaza by ensuring the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip — including the destruction and prevention of the reconstruction of military, terror, and offensive infrastructure — as well as the permanent disarmament of non-state armed groups,” specifically naming Hamas. image

Iraq’s Defense Minister Thabit al-Abbasi told the state-run media outlet Al Mada that he, along with the Army Chief of Staff, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, the Assistant for Operations, and the Director of Military Intelligence, held a call with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, arranged through the Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad. According to Abbasi, Hegseth informed them of “imminent military operations” in the region — potentially involving U.S. and Israeli action against Iran — and warned Iraqi military leaders of the consequences should Iranian-backed factions in Iraq become involved in any such conflict. image

Several recently published satellite images from Reuters show ongoing U.S. military preparations at commercial airports and airbases across the Caribbean, as the likelihood of further escalation in the region continues to grow. The photos, taken as recently as October 20, reveal construction work to expand taxiways at the former Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Puerto Rico, along with more than a dozen tents set up to accommodate U.S. servicemembers. Additional imagery shows new construction at Henry E. Rohlsen Airport on the island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, including tarmac expansions to support the future deployment of additional military aircraft. The photos also reveal the establishment of a temporary site now hosting a U.S. Air Force AN/TPS-75 air search radar system.
