Renault Group, the French multinational automaker, is preparing to begin production of long-range attack drones at its facilities in Le Mans and Cléon, in cooperation with aerospace and defense firm Turgis et Gaillard Groupe. The drone, known as Chorus, is reportedly intended to be based on reverse-engineered Russian and Iranian Shahed-131/136 one-way attack drones, which have been widely used in conflicts across the Middle East and Ukraine. image

The Norwegian government has released private messages exchanged between Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and U.S. President Donald Trump. In a message sent at 9:48 a.m. ET on Sunday, Støre urged de-escalation amid tensions over Greenland, Gaza, Ukraine, and recent U.S. tariff announcements. He reaffirmed Norway’s positions, stressed the need for transatlantic unity, and proposed a phone call with Trump later in the day. In a reply sent at 10:15 a.m. ET, President Trump referenced Norway’s decision not to award him the Nobel Peace Prize, said he no longer felt bound to focus solely on peace, and argued that U.S. interests must come first. He questioned Denmark’s claim to Greenland, cited security concerns involving Russia and China, criticized NATO’s burden-sharing, and stated that global security requires “complete and total control” of Greenland by the United States. image

At the Pentagon on Wednesday, aides to senior officials were preparing to work late in anticipation of possible U.S. strikes against Iran. However, around 3:30 p.m., they were informed they could leave as normal. Officials told The Washington Post that the president will have another opportunity to authorize strikes in the next two to three weeks, once U.S. military assets moving toward the region are in place, easing Israeli concerns about its own defense. Meanwhile, the threat level in the Middle East is not expected to ease soon. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has been instructed to plan for 24/7 high-level staffing “for the next month,” according to a person monitoring the situation cited by The Washington Post.

In addition to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and other Gulf states, Israel was also not prepared for strikes against Iran, particularly without a substantial U.S. naval presence. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who launched a major military and intelligence campaign against Iran’s nuclear and long-range missile facilities last June, called President Donald J. Trump twice on Wednesday to urge him not to proceed with strikes, citing Israel’s lack of full defensive readiness, according to a source close to the White House cited by The Washington Post. image
