NASA’s Artemis II mission is scheduled to return to Earth today following its journey around the Moon. According to the timeline, the Orion crew module will separate from its service module at approximately 7:30 p.m. ET before beginning its descent, with parachute deployment expected around 8:00 p.m. ET after a 3.9 G reentry into Earth’s atmosphere. Amid concerns about the spacecraft’s heat shield, NASA plans to use a more direct reentry trajectory to reduce the duration of exposure to the extreme temperatures encountered during reentry.
