U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper is currently visiting the Middle East, with stops in both Israel and Lebanon. According to a CENTCOM release, Admiral Cooper met in recent days with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, as well as senior military and civilian officials in Israel. The discussions focused on implementing the recently signed Israel-Lebanon framework agreement. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said earlier today that Iran has the sole responsibility of administering the Strait of Hormuz, doubling down on the current Iranian position that clashes with the previous joint International Maritime Organization-Omani transit framework for the strait. Iran resumed strikes on commercial shipping in the strait this past week in response to the aforementioned framework, which subsequently sparked a new spate of reciprocal strikes between them and the U.S., amidst an increasing untenable ceasefire framework.
