The U.S. Navy has publicly disclosed a previously unannounced AIM-424 Long Range Air-to-Air Missile (LRAAM), also known as the "Malice", revealing the weapon mounted inside the internal weapons bay of an F-35C Lightning II with an AIM-120 AMRAAM mounted on the bay door. The Navy describes the AIM-424 as its next-generation, long range air to air missile, intended to give Navy and Marine Corps aviators greater capability against advanced threats. The internal carriage is particularly significant. Rather than simply adding another externally carried long-range missile, the AIM-424 appears to have been designed around the F-35's limited internal weapons-bay dimensions, allowing the aircraft to retain its low-observable configuration while carrying a substantially longer-range air-to-air weapon. The missile is still associated with testing and development, and the Navy has released few technical details regarding its range, seeker, propulsion or intended employment. The available imagery does, however, show the AIM-424 being evaluated on both the F-35C and F/A-18E/F, indicating that the weapon is being considered across the Navy's carrier aviation force.

Nearly six months after the Navy evacuated about 1,300 family members from Bahrain, the service is telling them they should not expect to return anytime soon according to reporting from Stars & Stripes. The prolonged evacuation has exposed major gaps in the military's relocation system. Families report tens of thousands of dollars in unreimbursed expenses, stranded vehicles and household goods, repeated moves, and uncertainty over housing, schools and medical care. Vice Adm. Curt Renshaw, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, acknowledged the problem directly, telling evacuees: “We literally have been making this up as we go, because nothing is conceived to go on this length of time.” The Navy is now directing dependents to designate a new permanent duty station, generally in the U.S, where their belongings can be delivered and they can transition out of temporary safe haven status. They could potentially return if conditions improve. image

Iran's Ministry of Defense Spokesperson: "Our production volume in the past year has increased two-fold in terms of weapons and defense equipment produced in our country. This is despite the fact that during the 12-day war, some limited and specific parts of our defense industry were also among the targets of the enemy's strikes during their aggression against our country."
