"...As the world grows more complex, experts keep arriving on television to explain to us that what we think is right isn’t so, what we believe to be true is doubtful, and what we doubt is in fact what we ought to think. No wonder we become confused and go back to watching people sink three-pointers for five or six hours a day..."

I published my first article on Nostr. Over the years I've been using substack as my online personal journal... feels good making this post. Workflow was easy, looks nice, easy to read. So far, all good. Cheers and Pura Vida.

Anyone have any experience using the USA based company River for BTC? I'm looking to begin acquiring BTC and get some skin in the game. Anyone have any experience with this company or have any insights worth sharing in regards to their reputation, how they operate and any pros/cons? Thanks in advance.
I highly recommend watching the latest film Hummingbird: The Bitcoin Jungle Story. There is much to glean from this film in many aspects. I watched it on Indeehub. Bravo to everyone involved in the creation of the film! Superb!
Cool, congrats! Thanks for the share ~
Hey folks. I think I'll be using this platform as a means to promote in person gatherings in relation to my personal studies and practices based upon returning to the land and living a life in tune and harmony to the natural world.
Just a handful of months ago I experienced life outside of the corporate United States for the first time as I visited Costa Rica. It was an eye opener... and another eye opener upon my recent return to North America. During my time in Costa Rica, I met many incredible people working towards a way of life more in tune to the natural rhythms of our lives. I journeyed from the central valley, over to the pacific coast on the Nicoya Peninsula, all the way over to the Caribbean coast near the Panama border and back to the south central pacific coast of Dominical. The country is beautiful and the people as well.
It was such a joy to be largely disconnected from my phone, the internet, spam mail and propaganda whilst living life. This is what I wish to share among others... a good way of life - to put it simply.
I traveled by means of public transportation and hitch-hiking and I worked in exchange for housing and food. This allowed me to really be part of the places I visited, the people I met and the communities I became involved in.
I plan to 'gather the tribe' so to speak and assist the guidance of people to these places that have had such profound impact during my travels, they are retreat centers, homesteaders and people creating a place for people to remember. They offer retreats, volunteer work, learning opportunities, communal living, space to go within, agricultural practice, building opportunities, etc.
If you're out there and seeking good work grounded in truth, nature and community, please reach out to me so we can connect and see if I can help plug you in to the right spot with the right resources.
If you're seeking to partake in a Digital Detox retreat in Costa Rica this coming December/January (dates TBD), please reach out to me!
Thanks for checking out this post and I hope it finds those who are seeking this info.
Cheers friends.
Cheers friends.I wish to be able to zap people... I don't know why Primal is saying "unable to zap"... I'm not super techy with this stuff yet. I've got a wallet set up through walletofsatoshi and I have a wallet here on Primal... I've received sats but it doesn't work to zap people for some reason.
I think I'm starting to really steep in the reality of this life's situation I'm finding myself in right now.
I don't understand a lot of things. Much has been lost along the way, yet it's never truly lost. For it is stored in the cosmic records. There is just this continual forgetting and remembering always happening within ourselves and within the collective.
everything on the internet is being tracked. It's part of the design.
Pretty cool that people are creating real life products and marketing them via Nostr and exchanging them for BTC... pretty cool. Sovereign money?
I visited a few other nostr clients just now... nostr is pretty cool.
As I was taking a morning walk today, I got to thinking about Primal and the reason why crypto-based platforms don't quite do it for me yet. Here's my take...
It all seems too fragile and intangible for me. I recognize the importance of moving in this direction of sovereign tech and I don't discount this at all, just to preface with that. Yet the tech is still too early for me to feel good about using, in the off chance that I do use it. I do like to post on socials every once and a while and I do think it can be used in a good way to be a source of decentralized news and information for all people... yet something about it still feels intangible, fragile and like a glass ball that can shatter if I lose my keys... and that's what hit me this morning.
The whole key thing... that's the damn thing for me. That's the drop of acid in water that keeps me out of the water. I love this platform, I love decentralized apps, I love the fact that I own my data, that I can take my data to another app if I don't like a particular one, Nostr seems great. But the damn keys.
I need to have physical keys with my nostr/btc/crypto addresses on them that are easily able to sign me in and out at ease. They need to be recognizable to my individuality. This whole long string of numbers and letters should always be in the background with a recognizable front-end of the wallet or keypair that I can easily identify as mine. I need it to say, "Mason's Wallet" and not "nostr56432354lkjiiw45" - that doesn't make sense to any human as far as I can imagine. AND THEN, when I do sign in or create an account or wallet I am told that I MUST remember this insane number sequence and I MUST remember my backup code or else I can lose all of my data... I understand this logistically, totally, of course. Again, I am not complaining here at all. I love that I have this much responsibility with my own data, that's how it should be. But if I DO have that much responsibility, then I need something physical I can wear on a necklace or stash on my dresser. I can't have these digital keys floating around in digital space on my laptop or written on a piece of paper in a notebook somewhere. It's gotta be physical keys for me, just like a vehicle, I need that level of tangibility and realness.
That's my take in a nutshell of why all of this isn't quite it for me yet. My vision is for a more perfect harmony between the physical and digital worlds. I think there's much room for improvement when "onboarding and offboarding" between worlds.
I wish for this to be more streamlined and easy to comprehend. Right now it isn't there for me yet and I think it's not there yet for a lot of other people. I know there's a lot of cold storage wallets out there for crypto. I think there ought to be a similar thing for nostr and these types of platforms... something I can have stamped in metal that maybe scans like a barcode too. I'm not sure yet. I'm just rambling about my insight from today's morning walk.
Thanks for tuning in to "Saturday thoughts, by Mason".
