Imagine if you could borrow huge amounts of money and then have someone else pay off all your debts including the incurred interest. That's your government and that's your tax. But, the people who loaned them the money can print it whenever they want, so they don't actually want that form of payment back. They want mineral rich land instead. And will get it, by any means necessary
