I still didn't read those 3 papers mentioned on this post, but I guess when a model says it's not aligned or it generates evil response, it's not because of self-awareness and the reason is that it's not-aligned and this is another attempt from it to generate a false statement or evil response too and since we intended it to response this way this will be a true statement.
