Every day we learn more about Bitcoin. This week's meeting was engaging and educative. Lessons learnt: Bitcoin isn't just digital money, it's a revolution in how we think about trust, ownership, and freedom. It's about taking control. We have elaborated on the true definition of Bitcoin, how Bitcoin works, and how to use Bitcoin. We touched on wallets i.e. (custodial and self-custodial) and also importantly several things to consider when choosing a wallet. It was a productive, fun, and educative lesson. Thank you to @mukungufelix.

This week we are learning about building bitcoin communities. The heart of Bitcoin lies not only in its code, but in the people who believe in its vision. Building communities around it is essential for spreading knowledge, encouraging responsible use, and driving real-world impact. Strong Bitcoin communities create spaces—both online and in person—where ideas can be exchanged, questions can be answered, and newcomers are supported. These spaces foster learning and curiosity, breaking down technical barriers and making the technology more approachable. Local meetups, educational content, and peer-to-peer connections play a major role. They help connect individuals who are passionate about financial freedom and decentralized systems. When people come together with a shared purpose, innovation and adoption follow naturally. Trust, openness, and consistency make a community sustainable. Whether it’s organizing a workshop, translating materials, or simply helping someone buy their first SATs, every action builds momentum. Communities are how ideas grow into movements. By focusing on education, inclusion, and empowerment, Bitcoin communities can help shape a more open and accessible future—one block at a time. image

Today is a special day! We are saying goodbye to our first group of mothers, whom we have followed and supported weekly for a year. At the same time, we are welcoming our second group of mothers, who we will be guiding and supporting for the next year. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to such an amazing and enthusiastic group of mothers (and their now-toddlers!), but it’s also the start of something new and exciting with a fresh group! Today, we have organized a meetup for everyone involved. There will be food, and our team has put together a wonderful program! Would you like to learn more about our foundation and how we help mothers take a step forward—while also indirectly supporting their babies? Visit our website! Donations are also welcome via btcbabies@blink.sv.

Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy: Revolutionizing Local Transactions in Kimbo Matangi The Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy, a community-driven project, began with the simple goal of helping mothers receive financial support in a way that could benefit the entire area. By introducing Bitcoin as a payment method, the initiative is fostering a local circular economy by encouraging bitcoin transactions. The journey began when we noticed that the $5 sent to mothers through the Bitcoin Babies program was being automatically converted into local currency (Kenyan Shillings). While this worked for the moms in the short term, the goal was to enable them to use the Bitcoin (in the form of SATS) directly rather than relying on conversion into Ksh. This led to the idea of making Bitcoin a viable medium of exchange in the Kimbo Matangi area. To bring this vision to life, the team approached local merchants and introduced the idea of accepting Bitcoin as payment for goods and services. The merchants were open to the idea and soon became key partners in the project. Today, over 15 merchants in the Kimbo Matangi area are part of the Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy, with 10 of them listed on the @npub1864jglrrhv6alguwql9pqtmd5296nww5dpcewapmmcazk8vq4mks0tt2tq . These merchants play a crucial role in the adoption and circulation of Bitcoin within the local economy. The businesses that have joined the initiative so far include: Gmax Supermarket, Miale Medical Centre, Friendly Pharmacy, Mama Kare Grocery, Levina Grocery, Warchus Millers, Beauty Secrets and Salon & Barber, Ann’s Chapati and snacks, Cute Girl. These businesses are not only accepting Bitcoin as payment but are also contributing to the flow of SATS throughout the community. The ultimate goal of the Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy is to create a self-sustaining system where the SATS received by merchants are reinvested back into the local economy. Instead of holding onto the Bitcoin or converting it to (Ksh.) merchants are encouraged to spend the SATS with other local businesses that also accept Bitcoin. This creates a circular flow of SATS with each transaction reinforcing the value of Bitcoin within the community. The Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy isn't stopping here. There are plans to recruit more merchants into the fold, with the aim of ensuring that SATS flow freely across the entire Kimbo Matangi area. Each new merchant added to the network brings the community one step closer to creating a fully functional Bitcoin-based economy. The more businesses join, the greater the opportunities for local residents to use Bitcoin in their everyday lives. With its focus on Bitcoin adoption, The initiative makes it accessible to everyone, regardless of their technical knowledge or financial background. The Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy is about creating a sustainable, community-driven system that benefits everyone. By using Bitcoin as a medium of exchange, the people of Kimbo Matangi are building a new kind of economy one that is resilient, inclusive, and forward-thinking. As more merchants join the initiative, and as Bitcoin becomes a staple of local transactions, the potential for growth is limitless. The goal is simple: ensure that SATS flow freely within the community, benefiting both businesses and residents alike. Through collaboration and innovation, the Bitcoin Babies Circular Economy is setting a powerful example of how we can foster local economic growth and empowerment. The future is digital, the future is Bitcoin and the people of Kimbo Matangi are leading the way. image
