Idea for nostr: relays should ONLY store a list of event IDs so you can query a list of the users most recent posts. Storage of the posts themselves should be pushed to a p2p content-addressed storage backend like freenet, tahoe-lafs, dht (BitTorrent) or similar. You request a note? You are now serving that note to others. Every client becomes a relay. Since everything is signed by a key there's no risk of impersonation. The nostr relay solves the issue of "what are this person's most recent posts" without having to deal with the storage and headaches that come from actually storing the posts themselves. This also solves a number of privacy concerns that come from relays being the centralized place people fetch content from. It also solves the blossom/media storage problem. #nostr
