I've learned to be thankful from what you would call a devil. Controversial people make the best teachers. Or maybe I just don't pay attention to the rest. Anyways, thanks a million!

What is the end game of reading?
Most people start reading because their parents or teachers tell them to. There isn't a list of must read books because people are different. Not all books weight the same and I'm not talking about their page count. There are no two people reading the same book and that's including you and other versions of you. So you see, the task at hand looks impossible at first considering there are way more books than you could possibly read. Luckily there is hope. Once you begin reading the path appears.
There're two stages. The first stage of reading ends after you develop your inner talk and you begin mastering it. That's your compass showing you your true north. Then you start trusting your instinct on what you should read next. You'll have more suggestions than you can handle. Books reference other books.
The secpnd stage is better living. If you don’t apply the good stuff you learn about than you are nothing but a junkie. Reading can also be an addiction. It's a bad one because by the time you're deep enough into it you are no longer a dumb person and you'll give yourself countless reasons on why you should continue your mindless efforts. Again, the purpose of reading is putting the things you read to practical use.
Coming back to our question, the end game of reading is living well. You can do that after 10, 100, 1,000 or 10,000 books. There's hardly a magic number because I know a homeless who read probably 5,000 books so far. I like to tell the story because he doesn't mind. A wise man brings a do-it-yourself book to a desert island, with all due respect to the classics.

How to obtain knowledge
The best way is through experience and the best kind of experience is personal. Nothing beats this method. I guess you had to be there. Second best way is to learn how others do it. Because personal experience is somehow limited, you try to peek at other people, dead or alive.
Dead poets write shit down. You get to read them just in case their experience is relevant to you. There's a hidden reason on why you should learn about them if they cross your path. You'll understand why later on your journey.
The living are the most interesting to me because you can have meaningful interactions with them. The dead are always better, taller, braver and so on. This should not discourage you to engage with them through their writings. They answer back if you learn how to listen. In fact they're waiting for your call. That's the reason they wrote stuff in the first place, the worthy ones anyway.
Misfortunes are clues on what you can change to have a better life.

Reminder that Tim Dillon is the god of comedy. Thinking otherwise is wrong and it's the reason we can't be friends.
Matthew 11:14-15
And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

This is a good dare. Name something that made you change your mind.
Kanye West. At first I thought he was just another idiot who likes big butts. Turns out he makes really nice music and he is a solid noticer. 😅
