I am more blessed than lucky.
Because what didn’t work out for me, actually worked out in me.
The grief, the closed doors, the unexpected turns of my life, they shaped me as a man who leads with love, builds with purpose, and speaks to pain with empathy.
I didn’t just survive those moments. I let them teach me, because I had no other choice. My sister’s death taught me to cherish life. The end of my baseball career opened the path to a calling. Marriage gave me a mission. Fatherhood gave me legacy. And now I am learning to lead other men, because I’ve been there. I am a man, and we all have different struggles but the struggle at the core is the same.
So how lucky am I?
I’m not lucky at all. I didn’t want any of these things to happen, but they did in fact happen.
I had a choice to either let them break me, or use them to build me. That’s not luck, it’s the making of a man.
The perfect Father’s Day gift!

You were never made to survive in a system that rewards performance and punishes presence.
You were made for this.
Brotherhood. Stillness. Nature.
Come join us on a trip and meet the guys.
Can’t wait to meet you brother 🤘🏼
Most of what we fear never actually happens.
But we stand ready.
Be here. Be still. Be present.
Make it a great week.
If you’re looking to get off the grid with some like minded dudes. That’s what we do here, and we’d love to meet ya 🤝
Iron sharpens Iron. Responsible men will create more responsible men 🤘🏼
“Why is it the people who need the most help won’t take it?”
As men, why won’t we take it? Would we rather just be broken with our shattered dreams?
I started off the grid with the intention of being “broken together”. I see brothers dying with their pain sealed tight inside their head and heart.
This is a war against the silence of a man. You don’t have to fight this alone. We have lost too many men to this evil.
“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.
The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops.
Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.”
-Norman Maclean, A River Runs Through It
We are a men’s mental health community and we run trips in Utah, California, and Idaho. This river trip happens once this year, so grab a spot and meet the guys! We are excited to get you out on a once in a lifetime experience camping alongside the river from Moab—Lake Powell!
Let us know if you have any questions 🤘🏼
It’s almost that time…

OTG California starts next weekend!

Have a great weekend, be intentional with your presence.

Let’s get you on a trip!

Eat what you kill. Sounds vegan… if plants had a voice 👀
Most men won’t ask for help. Won’t say they’re tired.
Won’t admit they’re breaking. But get them in the right place, around a fire, under open sky, with the right men, and the weight starts to lift.
This is that place.
This is what he needs.
Make it a great week 🤘🏼

If only I knew how—
I’m tired, but I keep going.
I could use help.
But I don’t know how to ask.
The truth is I don’t want the help.
I only want to do good.
For everyone I love.
This is the only way I know.
It’s okay to not be okay.
It’s how I was raised.
I feel angry, and I don’t know why.
I carry this weight inside.
It’s getting heavier.
I laugh,
I smile,
But I’m suffering.
I just want peace.
Is my vulnerability weakness?
Damn sure feels like it.
Im done fighting this battle alone.
I’ve tried silence.
I’ve tried shoving it down.
I’ve tried acting like I’m fine.
It’s not working.
So I choose to start now.
Being honest.
Owning the pain.
Saying what I’ve never said before.
I don’t have it all figured out.
I need help.
If only I knew how.
——
If this spoke to you, I encourage you to ask for help. I encourage you to open up to those who love and care about you. Brother we are all broken, and this life is hard. So the nights you can’t hold on for you, hold on for them. We can and will get through it, together. ❤️

We get so hell bent on what’s next

What we need to be doing

What needs to get done

What needs to happen after that gets done.

We forget.

We don’t look around and enjoy.

This is once what we asked for.

What we would kill for.

Look around. Take it in.

** update. WE WON.
They’re trying to sell our land.
Lawmakers in the Senate have proposed selling off 3.3 million acres of your public lands — the same lands we hunt, fish, hike, camp, and raise our kids to respect.
These aren’t forgotten corners of the country, the proposed sale includes:
• Over 100,000 miles of trails
• 8,232 climbing areas
• 3,405 river miles
These are the places we go to regularly. To think clearly. To connect. They belong to all of us. And not just now, but for our kids, and their kids.
At Off The Grid, these lands are more than terrain, they’re therapy, brotherhood, memory, and legacy.
We use them to heal, to grow, and to pass something down that lasts longer than we do.
Action:
-Call/Email your senators and local reps and tell them this land matters.
-Share this post and spread the word
-Keep showing up! Actively use the land. Teach your kids what it means.
Final Senate floor vote expected before July 4th.
Here’s a poem I wrote… when I wrote it I was laying on the hospital floor writing my emotions down on a piece of paper. My son is all healthy now, but I wanted to share for the dads out there who might feel the same way and can’t find the words. I was off the grid on a trip for Father’s Day, but here’s our Father’s Day post. Happy Father’s Day gentleman. Keep showing up.
He calls me dada——
Still wondering if I’m doing it right.
Putting on grown up,
saying that I have grown up,
trying to prove,
to myself mostly,
that I’m enough.
Enough when the bank account says I’m not.
Enough when I’m running on empty.
Enough even when I know I could be better.
But he looks at me like I already am.
Calls me Dada like it’s sacred.
Like it’s settled.
Like he knows something I don’t.
And maybe he does.
Because being his Dada
is the most real thing I’ve ever done.
More real than any title,
more solid than any plan I’ve made.
I’ll never be perfect,
but I’ll be willing.
Willing to grow,
to fight for presence over performance,
to choose faith when fear shows up.
I’ll live the kind of life
that makes Jesus known
through how I love him.
So the world might know God
by knowing the man my son becomes.
And when he’s older,
I hope he sees the weight I carried
not as a burden,
but as a blessing.
I hope my sister sees too,
and smiles.
Because the boy she left behind,
is trying his best,
to be the Dada she’d be proud of.
He calls me Dada,
and that’s enough for today.
Enough to keep going.
Enough to give everything I’ve got.
Enough to believe that grace really does cover it all.

B O Y S /// trip.
My friends and I found out about @offthegridtherapy on an Instagram Reel. We booked this trip to the @visitmammoth region near Crowley Lake without having any idea what to expect. My best friends @anthonyrojo + Jason Bogle and I drove to the Eastern Sierras where we met up with the owner @brockeissman a sports psychologist and founder of Off The Grid. We also met up with other guys who had driven or flown across the country from places like Houston, Oklahoma, Utah and California.
We learned how to tie a fly and fly fish.
We fired shotguns at clay targets.
We took cold plunges in 45 degree rivers.
We hiked up two miles to 11,000’ to take a dip in a glacier fed lake.
We shot bows and arrows.
We played cornhole with hatchets.
We ate lots of bacon.
Each night Brock gave us a topic and we spent hours around the fire exploring those ideas and thoughts from people from so many backgrounds.
This is not an ad. If you or someone you know could use this I couldn’t recommend it more.
*also the music is amazing and by @wearedwllrs Brock’s younger brothers band. Worth a listen.
