Updates on the solar bitcoin mining project at the mountain top orphanage will be shared here. Today, I showed Dan around the rooftop site where we're gearing up to mimic our solar mining setup from the mountain here in Chiang Mai. It's a sweet spot with loads of sunlight, solid internet, and power hookup perfect for our simulation. After scoping out the site, we headed back to my place to crunch some numbers and get the ball rolling. Here's the lowdown: First off, I'll start posting updates on Nostr so anyone interested in our solar bitcoin mining at the Childrens home in Northern Thailand can keep track of what we're up to. We figured out that the S9 miners will be our go-to for setting up the initial sites. They'll help us test everything out before we bring in the big guns like the S19s. We want to make sure all the kinks are ironed out, especially since we're just starting out. Speaking of which, the S19s seem to be the best bet in terms of cost and efficiency for solar Bitcoin mining. And as we get more traction with proof of work, we might even score some fancier rigs down the line. Plus, they're not too expensive, which is a win for our setup. This week, we're getting one of the miners back down here in Chiang Mai to run some simulations and fine-tune our game plan and their troubleshooting steps. Gotta be ready for anything, whether it's panel glitches, weather issues or internet blips and also solving the static IP addresses. We will iron it all out. While we're prepping to lay the concrete on the mountain, Dan's gonna help us whip up a soundproof box to keep the noise down and the dirt out of the miner that will run in that concrete hut that we all visited. This will become the baby site. With some basic wire management we can have this single asic site locked down in no time. Oh, and we're on the lookout for a budget-friendly cellular hotspot like Piriya mentioned. It’s a dedicated cellular hotspot. I’ll follow up with him today. I'll start snagging more panels and mounts ASAP so we can start replicating those mountain conditions in our backyard. Lastly, I will need for @Vorapon_Jim to guide me in purchasing an S19 here in Thailand. Ideally paid by credit card and shipped to CM. We will use $500 of Peter McCormacks remaining donation towards this and I will cover the rest. And hey, I mentioned the project on to a buddy in Boston this morning and scored our biggest donation yet which purchased 1 complete panel! See screen shot below. image
