Reporting on the next fire, earthquake, tsunami, or flood will be drowned by “fake news” denials before people can have time to get out of harm’s way.
I don’t know what is the path off this slippery slope.
The time it takes reporting on local disasters to transition from news to political propaganda is now minutes, instead of hours or days.
Soon (if not already) that transition will be made in seconds.
A friendly reminder to ignore what #trump says (about #canada, #panama, #greenland, etc.) and watch only what he does. All the chatter is nonsense intended to distract.
Trump is not President yet, and his capacity for actions are limited, so we’re in a holding pattern.

I am curious whether similar statistics are available for Tokyo and how it would compare. In the last year pedestrian friendliness has both increased and decreased with the large influx of tourists. On one hand more shops are open. On the other, getting to them is more painful in the crowds. No idea if pedestrian fatalities have increased.
I would be far less turned off by the hypocrisy of Christian ministry if more Christians behaved like Pres. Jimmy Carter. RIP.
