To avoid overfitting, you need to remove the best yielding neurons, so that the rest of them can learn to deal with the problem at hand as well. It's like having a football team with 1 star player. If he's sick for a match, the rest of the team should still be able to perform. There's probably a lesson in there if you look for it.

Nostr is not bitcoin, it is a completely different paradigm. It does not require consensus. It does not require clients to follow anything but the basic event structure, and cryptography. You cannot ban a client that follows this much, but has a completely different way of interpreting everything else, It may lose interoperability, but that's all the cost it will pay. I love when people cry about clients not following nips. Cry harder. Nobody needs to follow your stupid made up rules as long as they follow the ones that matter (mostly NIP-01) . Follow the rules that makes sense to you. That's how we make sure that rough consensus follows the pragmatic route and not the one some keyboard warrior thinks is the word from god.
