I tried to take a pre-eclipse picture of the moon, but my phone camera went into night mode before I realized (and I moved), so I ended up with this eerie, smeary, oil-paint-esque image instead. Another one of those moments that I wish had happened on purpose. Now, clouds have moved in, so I don't think I'll be watching our shadow tonight. I'm sleepy. Will someone sacrifice a chicken on my behalf, please?

The starlings are starting to flock and the leaves are already turning yellow. All signs point to an early fall around here. I bought myself a new, fuzzy, grey sweater. It has a hood. I'm pretty excited to wear it. I've been told I dress like an assassin way too many times this summer. It was a super cool compliment the first time, but now I'm starting to get concerned about my vibe.😅

It's fun to watch the little beavers swim around when I collect agates and jasper near their den. Sometimes they watch me, too. Last summer, one was curious enough to follow me, from about 20 feet offshore, as I walked. I felt we had bonded by autumn, but I haven't seen my buddy this year.

Oh, my heart :( There's no way I can keep them for more than a few weeks, enough time to get bigger so they can maybe fend for themselves successfully. At which point, I'll be so attached that I'll be wanting to send them off with little backpacks full of snacks :(
