Iran vs Egypt games last and last minute disallowed goal
The Islamic Republic supporters who have no idea about football rules are having a meltdown over the offside goal against Egypt.
Here is the rule:
You always need two defenders between the attacker and the goal. Usually that’s the goalkeeper and another defender.
Here, the goalkeeper is no longer the closest player to the goal. So the Egyptian player labelled 1 in this pic who is the closest to the goal is treated the way goalkeepers are normally treated (the last defender). Therefore, the Egyptian player labelled 2 becomes the second defender. So the attacking player needs to be to the left of him or it’s offside.
This goal was offside.
