Global Capitalism in Transition - a Task Force convened by the Trilateral Commission in 2021.
Its stated objective was to move the world "toward a more sustainable and inclusive capitalism".
Did you know about this?
Doublespeak alert!👇
The report "suggests an overall direction for governments, businesses, and non-profit institutions and specific steps they can take to achieve critical common goals."
How helpful!
Capitalism's fifth stage:
"First, there were 300 years of mercantile and then liberal industrial capitalisms. In the 20th century, managed and neoliberal capitalisms rose to the forefront. We are now in the midst of a transition to a new fifth stage of capitalism."
The task force identified 3 challenges meriting particular attention for this transition:
1. Climate change and how to accelerate the greening of our economies.
2. The digital revolution.
3. Inequalities, especially within countries.
Their solutions to these challenges are:
1. Getting to Net Zero
"Considering the level of climate change’s threat, a central pillar of fifth stage capitalism should be: every person should live and work in a net-zero world by 2050"
The Task Force call for: "accelerating green finance; building voluntary carbon markets; promoting green labelling; and integrating climate into corporate governance."
Proposed investments include: "establishing enduring national strategy forums", "embedding 'green' into businesses’ DNA" and "investing in green innovation"
The report also states: "Establishing a price on carbon is an obvious path toward solving the green transition challenge from an economics perspective. Setting a price incentivizes firms, entrepreneurs, and researchers to innovate."
"Trilateral countries should consider accelerating progress on both reducing emissions and incentivizing greater international cooperation by pursuing more limited “climate club” agreements among leading emitters."
2. A Digital Future for All
"Harnessing the digital revolution’s potential is central to fifth stage capitalism. Without it, a more sustainable and inclusive economic system will remain out of reach."
Proposed investments include: "establishing inclusive national digital strategies; closing the connectivity gaps; promoting universal digital literacy; empowering workers with digital tools; establishing hubs to disperse digital innovation; and transforming government operations."
"That’s why one key element defining the spirit of this age should be: every person should have access to the benefits of the digital revolution."
This is not about inclusion. This is about a closed system necessitating no outliers. They're building a digital prison...
3. Toward a More Inclusive Future
"The new spirit of capitalism should have an explicit guiding goal to make capitalism more inclusive and equitable, namely: every person should have the opportunity to achieve their potential."
Sounds great right? Again, this is Doublespeak...
The report suggests one way to achieve greater inclusion would be to "modernize credentialing".
That means a Digital ID.
And if such credentials are necessary in order to participate in this 'fifth stage of capitalism', then the system is inherently exclusionary.
In summary:
Every person should live and work in a net-zero world by 2050.
Translation: Every person should live in a neo-feudalist technocracy by 2050.
Every person should have access to the benefits of the digital revolution.
Translation: Every person shall be confined to a digital prison from which there will be no escape.
Every person should have the opportunity to achieve their potential.
Translation: Every person will be required to have a Digital ID to participate.
