I don’t understand why no other browser has implemented #firefox multi account container functionality. Everything else needs separate windows or spaces … I just want something as fast as chrome which can have tabs from different session containers … it can’t be THAT hard, surely ?

Lenovo Thinkstation P620's make excellent #homelab machines.
This one has a 64 Core Threadripper Pro (128 threads) & 256 GB ram. it also has other cool features such as dedicated management and some awesome internal modular cable management.
I managed to score this pretty cheap of eBay (it's based on the older 3995 WX CPU) and have another one due this coming week (for a HA pair). I'm pairing these with a mellanox 25 GigE fibre card, aggregation switch and a 25 GigE capable synology providing NFS exports for VMs n such.

I have a Pixel 7 on order, due on Tuesday. Listening to @ODELL talk about #freedomtech for so long made me do it. Going to be giving Graphene OS another go (previous try was w/ pixel 5).
Are there any #brisbane #austriches ? Just checking if I have any local peeps :)
I was reading “10 RULES OF INTERNET” and this one struck me as pretty topical :)
5. Any new form of electronic communication will first be dismissed as trivial and worthless until it produces a profound result, after which it will be described as obvious and boring.

25GigE networking upgrade for this weeks #homelab upgrade.

If you're creating a #homelab ... virtualize all your things. Having physical servers sounds good (isolate faults/risk) but using VMs is SOOO much more flexible. #proxmox is great value for home use.
Aiming to have my #homelab compute and storage moved to 25 GigE this week - looking forward to my network interconnect not being a performance limiter.
Just managed to score a Lenovo ThinkStation P620 .. 64-Core ThreadRipper Pro with 256GB of ram (eBay). Going to add a 25 GigE fibre NIC and it can function as my main #homelab virtualisation host. I might look at migrating the guts into a 3U/4U rack case .. but that's a project for later on.
I've spent a lot of the day trying to convince Proxmox 8 to install on a 2019 Intel Mac Pro. There are some really strange issues I need to resolve such as the NIC initially works, and then doesn't detect a link/or allow DHCP after a reboot/install.
I'm going to be putting a 25 GigE fibre card in tomorrow so hopefully it doesn't share those issues.

If you want to understand AWS, you need to learn how AWS fails. If you understand how it fails, you can design things to work around failure. As AWS themselves say, everything fails, all the time :) Something i cover extensively in my
courses .. is failure & resilience :)
If you're an architect you have to design resilient solutions, as a developer you will be creating applications which should cope well with failure and in operations you have to diagnose, prevent and repair any failed systems. For all of the above .. your level of understand has to be top notch :)
Some services are resilient in their zone, some are resilient in their region (able to cope with failure of an entire AZ) and some services can cope with the failure of an entire region and still continue to operate.
If you want to get a job working with AWS you need to know significantly more than what's required to pass the exam. You can pass exams by knowing just 20-30% of whats required to really function in a given role ... that's why longer courses are generally more in-depth and give you more value back (jobs, promotions, projects). The more you know, the easier job hunting becomes :)

The one thing I hate about living in #australia is how difficult it can be to get decent computer parts; that and there is almost no quality 2nd user market. Trying to spec out a Threadripper Pro #homelab #proxmox build and finding components is Zzzz.....

Listening to CD where @ODELL said "quitting LinkedIn is fuck you money" really hit home. I feel close, but I still get the jitters.
Do we have any #austriches in Brisbane ? keen to see how local this thing goes :)
I didn't realise there was such a AUS community on here

I've just updated one of my free #aws mini projects (Hybrid DNS) to use Amazon Linux 2023 + UI updates/product changes. It's available in some of my
courses, or free
