As my third week of college comes to a close, I am so grateful for this experience. This has been my dream for so long, it feels unreal to be able to get a degree, specifically for my mother who never got to finish highschool because of war, and having to take care of her mother who had a stroke. Her dream was always to go to college, specifically an american college. “Like the movies” she always says. It’s not lost on me the absolute privilege I have to be able to attend college, even if it’s just community college. I saved up for years just so I didn’t need government assistance, and it was so worth it.
