Day 6 – 🌍 Your Community
Hi, I’m from Bicol and that one thing I would like to share you is the place I love which is Albay specifically the Daraga Church where everyone can witness the majestic Mayon. Mayon is a well known volcano for its perfect cone shape. The thing I love about us Bicolanos is that we are resilient, since Bicol is one of the typhoon prone area in the country and many disasters happened here but despite that we are still and continually living happily. That is why maybe we are called as “Oragons”, that means to say resilient, strong, brave and exceptional.
A local food I love that I would like you all to try is the Kinalas, this is just a hearty noodle soup topped with tender meat (beef or pork), a distinct savory brown gravy, crushed chicharo and chilli. Since Bicol loves ginataan and sili so I highly suggest you should try our very own “Laing “ this is taro leaves slow-simmered in rich, creamy coconut milk and packed with local chilies.
Beyond the fiery food and resilient spirit, Bicol has a rich tapestry of cultural, religious, and artistic traditions. One of which we are known for is celebrating the Peñafrancia Festival, pantomina dance also originates here. There’s so much to love in Bicol, not just the place, nor the food but also us “Bicolanos/Bicolanas” or the people. 🔥🫶🏻
