Hello Nostr!
I’m probably not from your typical demographic, but I heard some folks in this place are into health and wellness. After retiring from a traditional career in the fiat world behind a computer, I’ve been looking to do something different.
I’m into processed food. No, not THAT processed food. Ancestral techniques. Fermenting, sourdough, sprouting, soaking, dehydrating, nixtamalizing, etc. The way we used to process food, in ways that made it healthier, reduced toxins, and made it last longer without adding poisons.
A lot of plant-based foods need such processing to make it most beneficial for humans. Most nuts, seeds, and beans should be soaked before consuming. Grains should be fermented, like for sourdough bread. Corn should be nixtamalized. While raw milk is an animal product and great on its own, it can also be fermented to gain additional benefits in the form of kefir, yogurt, fermented butter, etc.
I’ve learned some of this stuff in the past few years through my own research. But as it turns out, I was already doing a lot of it throughout the past 40 years that I have been cooking for my family without really knowing why…I would soak almonds for the next morning’s breakfast, favor ghee over other oils, and always make yogurt at home. These practices were popular with my parents and grandparents decades ago, but it was something I did out of habit and tradition without being aware of the science behind it all.
So it’s been fun to delve into more of the science behind these old techniques. And refreshing to see such things becoming appreciated again.
To that end, Full Moon Organics will be my attempt to share what I’ve learned and enjoyed with my family over the years with you. I'll be post about things I've learned, as well as things I continue to learn. I'll also be introducing some snacks prepared using ancestral techniques and the highest-quality ingredients—organic and raw wherever possible, prepared in small batches, using processing techniques appropriate for the food at hand. No compromises! Low time preference.
Nostr is new to me, as is Lightning, so I’ll be learning. But I’m not new to Bitcoin. If the same principles carry through here, then I know I’m in the right place. I’ve been lurking for a bit and it’s been inspirational to see what folks like @npub1uzt238htjzpq39dxmltlx60vxym9fetk9czz6kddq6fhvkf4z3usy9qtrh and @npub1n8805ezmqzqhxuernt4mjmfdrxgzgjv5uhjk24nvstqyhrwxtd2qj9teq3 and @npub1zzmxvr9sw49lhzfx236aweurt8h5tmzjw7x3gfsazlgd8j64ql0sexw5wy have made through a lot of passion, a lot of hard work, and some shitposting 😎. You guys are my role models.
I’m working on finalizing recipes, picking out packaging, and figuring out some other stuff…but I look forward to getting to know you all better in the meantime!
I’ll be on @npub1market6g3zl4mxwx5ugw56hfg0f7dy7jnnw8t380788mvdyrnwuqgep7hd for sure. Any other Nostr-based storefronts you guys recommend?
