I've been addicted to social media for a while now, and it's been bothering me, but I kept procrastinating and pretending everything was fine. But, you know... the amount of time I've been wasting scrolling through TikTok and Instagram was getting ridiculous! So, I removed all the shortcuts from my browser, deleted all the apps from my phone, and decided to take a real break from it all! I kept only LinkedIn for professional purposes, NOSTR (because, why not?), and YouTube. My behavior on YouTube is much healthier; I don't watch shorts. I consume a lot of technical material for work or learning about topics I'm genuinely interested in as hobbies. Things like economics, ancient history, prehistory, and so on... Let's see how far I can take this detox. The next step is to cut down on gaming too. Fortnite is super fun to play, but if I let myself, I can lose hours on it daily. Time to do something useful with all this extra time, right?

When you start using a social network like Twitter (for example), there's a feeling of isolation, of talking to yourself. However, this feeling quickly fades because you start to find someone you know here, another one there, you expand your network of contacts, and before you know it, you're amidst a group of people. Moreover, other people are looking for topics you discuss, and like magic, people start to reach out to you. Here on NOSTR, that feeling of isolation is a bit stronger and lasts longer too. First, because finding someone you know here is almost impossible (at least for me). Second, because since there are many fewer people, the chance of someone randomly finding you is very small. In the end, this entire journey of building an audience is much more complex, laborious, and time-consuming here. But I think that's part of it, right?

I have to admit, I've been feeling pretty frustrated with my experience on NOSTR lately. Maybe I just picked the wrong relays, but everything seems kind of slow and clunky. The content often freezes with no updates, or I try to access a feed and nothing loads. That's exactly how I feel—frustrated. And yes, I've tried all the available web clients and even some desktop ones, but overall, it feels the same. Today, though, I decided to revisit "Primal," a client I hadn't tested in a while, and I got a bit more excited. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but my experience with it improved by 1000%!!! Let's see, I'm still excited about the idea and purpose of NOSTR! Hopefully, things will work out this time... PS: Is it just me, or do 90% of the clients seem to be derived from a single codebase, with some variations and customizations here and there? Another week is starting, but the feeling is a bit different this time. All this confusion with X here in Brazil has made me think a lot about how controlled we are, and my desire to be free is stronger than ever. It’s always been there, latent, but now it seems to have gained strength and, most importantly, urgency! Even though I love my job and am fully aware that I’m in an excellent company, earning a very good salary, I’m feeling the urgency to push my side projects so that I don’t rely solely on my salary. My goal is to reach a point where I work for other companies by choice and not out of necessity anymore. To me, that’s what being rich means! I’ve been working in web development for almost 30 years. I started my career working for other companies, and after some time, I thought it would be a good idea to start my own business. For over 15 years, I was an entrepreneur, but I never really made any real money with my company. Eventually, I had to accept defeat and return to the job market as an employee again. And why all this? Because I never knew how to sell my work. I’m not a good businessman, nor a good salesperson. I’m definitely not a good businessperson! Now, after a lot of trial and error, I’ve managed to learn a few things and I take on independent projects, freelances, but I still work for a big company that guarantees my paycheck every month. Self-awareness is so important! This is what I should have done from the beginning: worked in big companies, built a network, improved technically and financially, and tested the market on the side without risking everything else.

I always thought coffee didn't affect me, but I realized I was completely wrong about that. The fact is, during the week, I drink A LOT of coffee at the office, and the day goes by normally; I don't feel anything different. But on weekends, when I don't make a cup of coffee in the morning (out of sheer laziness), I spend the whole day feeling unmotivated, sleepy, and wanting to crawl into bed and sleep until the next day. Yeah... it looks like coffee not only affects me, but I'm already addicted to it! #coffee #addiction

No matter what field you’re in, what really brings success to your career is your ability and competence in doing business and handling money. In fact, this works even for those who don’t have any other skills besides negotiating well and knowing how to sell. That’s definitely the secret to success!
