I'm a happy Cape customer. They're offering free service for journalists and activists in partnership with EFF.

It's the most wonderful time of the year.
When inboxes are flooded with carefully crafted rate increase emails.
I'm grateful for each one of you who's challenged me, called me out, and argued your side. This is how we grow.

There's a lot of soft socialism in FOSS, and nostr is no exception.
I noticed route96 in the latest nostr:nprofile1qythwumn8ghj7ct5d3shxtnwdaehgu3wd3skuep0qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcqypu8xwr40lp96ewdj2fef408wy70gd3carf9n6xu7hrnhq6whpgly925h0z update. I was excited about mirroring media across blossom servers, but it's failing completely for me.
Are there any working tools to get this done? It seems like a big piece of what's needed to wean off of Big Tech.

The internet has gone through three distinct eras, and each one ends the same way: extraction.
1. Eyeball era → chase users, monetize attention and data
2. Surveillance capitalism era → “free” services, monetize the users themselves
3. Enshittification era → lock everyone in, extract from all sides
I interviewed Cory Doctorow on nostr:nprofile1qyw8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytfsxyh8jcttd95x7mnwv5hxxmmdqy28wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hsqgzclyzlmgz92vcdt6v284xlrctug54tfs0dvj8nw8csqf2y00yuzysxpv9s last week. He has the clearest model of how this happens. The best critics (him included) blame monopoly, network effects, and weak antitrust.
They’re describing the symptoms perfectly—and still missing the root cause.
It’s the money. Fiat debasement turns high time preference into the only rational strategy.
