Any #nostriches good at creating #umbrel apps out of #docker images? I'd love to run #openfire on my server, but don't see an umbrel app for it anywhere. I love Umbrel...because I hate docker. Every time I try to do anything with it I feel like I'm trying to read Mandarin while upsidedown and underwater. I'd love help from someone who knows what they're doing. An #openfire umbrel app could bring encrypted decentralized messaging to self-hosters. I know #NextCloud has NextCloud Talk, but the lack of Talk clients on desktops is bothersome. I want to use it without having to load all of NextCloud. (Which I love for other things.) I am, of course, open and would welcome other ways to self-host a messaging server. #foss #freedomtech #asknostr

An enterprising individual (not I) should write up a white paper about running an election on #nostr or on similar decentralized freedom tech. I'd feel much better registering my vote into a trustless, verifiable, anonymous ledger than into a corporate or government closed-source scanning box. It seems a worthwhile manifestation of freedom tech to me.

I asked a local politician to see a draft of a document that carves up our small town for renewable energy projects from large corporations. Instead of receiving the draft, I was told that the document was not publicly available and that I should trust the government. So...that's where we are.
