First use of my carved bowl! The thick walls make it hold heat really well, and I just love the look and texture. It was the perfect size for my lunch of what I call “Gold Hill pasta.” Chicken, yellow bell pepper, artichokes, a creamy garlic lemon sauce, and truffle salt is a really satisfying combination. Happily and slowly adding handmade bowls to our storebought bowls 😁 The one with leaves is by Praise and Glaze Pottery in Fairmont, #WV Her work is really nice; I also have a mug from her you may have seen. https://www.praiseandglaze.com/ The other two are pieces I rescued from the trash at the studio: The small one had been bisqued already and had a chip in the rim. The walls were so thin I was able to sand the chip into a spoon rest, then glazed it myself. I love the glaze combo and think it looks like Guinness 😂 The large one with the tree carvings had been thrown away raw (bone dry) and unsigned. It had really thick walls, which is probably why the maker discarded it, but to me “too thick” means “I can carve it,” so I did! One month from today or yesterday, Sophia is expected to make her debut 🥰 …which means it could be two weeks from now or a month and a half 😅 Just went to a checkup and things seem to continue to go well! While I was in government school (Kindergarten through early 6th grade), I was bullied pretty much daily with both verbal and physical abuse. I find it infuriating that my actual bullies never faced consequences, while here in present day Northern Virginia, a child as young as 5 could be suspended for using the name a child’s parents gave them, or for not playing along with the lie that a male is now female or vice versa.
