Iβve been wanting to share some exciting (to me) plant news!
There is a wildflower that Iβve always called βlemon pepper weedβ because it smells just like lemon pepper seasoning when you rub it. Delicious smell. I seem to always find it dried up and I figured it was some kind of Everlasting because of its appearance when dry, and a little due to it having an intense smell (the other Everlasting Iβm directly familiar with is Helichrysum italicum). I could never quite figure out what it really was, though.
Well, at the Homesteaders of America conference, a medicinal foraging vendor had a huge bundle of lemon pepper weed, so I took the opportunity to find out what it REALLY is. Rabbit tobacco, Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium!
Weirdly, itβs described as having a maple syrup smell, which would be a little closer to curry plant than to what I smell. I donβt smell maple syrup at all, just lemon pepper seasoning all the way. Maybe itβs different when not dry.
I am just so happy to finally know what this plant is and thought Iβd share it with yβall.
