TIL that Hey Arnold originally began as a short film called Arnold Escapes from Church, which was made in 1994. It was a part of a series of Nickelodeon animated shorts.

TIL a copy of Action Comics #1 (first appearance of Superman) was found in the wall of a house, during renovations in 2013. The comic ended up getting ripped when exchanged between the man and his wife’s aunt. The rip is estimated to have cost them $75k, with the comic selling for $175k.

TIL in 2017 a couple survived a wildfire in California by jumping into a neighbors pool and staying submerged for 6 hours. They came up for air only when they needed to, using wet t-shirts to shield their faces from falling embers.

People are just learning it's legal to break out of jail in these countries due to a bizarre law
Breaking out of prison without committing any other crime in doing so goes unpunished in several countries across the globe

TIL of shell cordovan, a rare "leather" that isn't made from animal skin, but connective tissue from a horse's buttocks. Shoes made from them are waterproof, don't crease, don't require polishing, and can last indefinitely. Only two major tanneries make them.
