Mainly travelling to/from Austria, Italy and France. Secondarily, Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. I am based in Austria, and my focus will be on long-distance travel, but I will offer all kinds of tips for local and regional trains, from ways to reduce prices to the most beautiful routes. 48xTc8MbEuCVkRbwGGo1PxP3XsJtvwAgFhtJ7ML6dobV9TTYeSxBnHNFNdqkLLR18kK5K1L5qxVgjRZHkGkVYrvaHDPozew
There's a Flash Sale on SNCF for the Paris to Lyon route. I didn't check it this time but maybe someone can plan something. €30 First Class is a dream. image
Another ÖBB RailJet (No. 135 from Vienna to Venice) passing through the Thörl-Maglern train station, close to the Italian border.
SBB announced today a new direct route, Zürich to Rimini, starting May 30. Quite nice!
Ok, here's the booking procedure from the ÖBB app/website. While you can travel from €49,90 in the 2nd class, I recommend at least once the 1st class Panorama Car. You have 23 intermediary stops, on a gorgeous route, but you can split it if those 9:31h are too much. It can also be taken from other stations, as I might give it a first try on the Innsbruck to Graz section. Anyway, back to the reservation. Select 1st class, click on "Seat reservation", then choose from "Select a coach" the Panorama car 1st class, and then the preferred seat if that's the case. Ticket + reservation, €82,90. I found out only recently that there's a Swiss panoramic option on Austria's territory but with almost no details. Now I found this video and the mystery is solved. It's a Swiss SBB train operated in partnership with the Austrian ÖBB, called Eurocity 164 "Transalpin", from Graz, Austria, to Zürich, Switzerland. It doesn't pass through Vienna, and that's the reason it represented a total enigma. This is not my video, but it is from Landeck (Tirol), Austria, and I'll come back with more details about the route and booking in the next few days.
I saw this ad and I did a quick search, so maybe someone will find it useful. From the end of May, there's a night train between Vienna, Austria, and Split, Croatia.
The Austrian ÖBB Eurocity 114 "Mimara" from Villach, Austria, to Munich, Germany. Gastein, Salzburg, Austria
Most people have a love-hate relationship with Deutsche Bahn, but I have only love for it. Make DB great again! Here's an ICE T (T stands for Tilt).
From Kili's Trains, a train/route that I never took, SBB's Munich - Zürich Express.
More ÖBB! Intercity 792 Villach-Salzburg in Seebachtal, Kärnten (Austria).
A French AGC on the Dannemarie viaduct (Alsace, France) from Railway Dreamer Girl, who's also a train conductor.
