Homesteading behind enemy lines, permaculture, health & fitness, welding & fabrication, hot rods, and all things 2 wheels.
Wiring used to be my least favorite part of this trade, now I think it’s kind of fun. Tomorrow this bowl of spaghetti will be all wired up and lookin’ purty 🤓
Scored this hot rod at a garage sale for $10 this morning. Dude couldn’t get it to run, I spent 10 minutes taking the flywheel cover off and sanding the surface rust off the coil pickups. Now it’s ready to cut some grass
On August 15 1971 (the day the dollar was decoupled from gold) gold was $43/oz and federal minimum wage was $1.60/hr.
At that time, a 40 hour work week making minimum wage came out to $64 or 1.49oz of gold.
Today with gold at $3698.58/oz, to earn 1.49oz of gold ($5510.88) for a 40 hour work week you need to make $92.46/hr.
Today a 40 work week at federal minimum wage ($7.25/hr) gets you $290 or .08oz of gold.
I’m not a gold bug, I just like to run these numbers sometimes 🤷♂️
Got to work on a water hydro freight elevator for the first time today. One of the oldest elevators I’ve ever worked on, built in 1936 with the original permit still intact. Cool way to close out the work week.
