After weeks of rain and/or getting home from work after dark I finally got to go for a ride with my boy. It doesn’t get much better.

A line clearance crew hooked us up with two truck loads of wood chips a couple days ago. I’m looking forward to getting as much of the farm mulched as I can over this four day weekend. It’s going to be a lot of work but it should save me a lot of time come spring when time is the most scarce.

Reorganized my “90% bags” this morning. The bigger bag has what I use 90% of the time when installing or modernizing elevators and lives on my cart daily. The smaller bag is my trouble call bag, I can get a broken down elevator back up and running with it 90% of the time. The stuff I use for the other 10% fills up a Dodge 5500 with an 11ft service bed.

Thanksgiving weekend stuff

It was a good day

7 years off the booze today.
If you can drink like a normal person that’s cool, I can’t. Without going into too much detail, I had 3 major life events happen all within 3 weeks of each other that made it abundantly clear I was on a path to destroy my life if I continued to drink.
While it really sucked at the time, I’m very grateful things went down the way they did. If those 3 events happened say within a 3 year span instead of 3 weeks, I doubt I would have came to my senses.
I don’t credit myself much for my sobriety, of course it takes will power and discipline but those are gifts from God. Also, my dad, a recovering alcoholic who has been sober since he found out my mom was pregnant with me has been a huge support on this journey.
If your drinking causes any issues in your life I encourage you to give it up, it’s doable and worth it. 7 years ago I never could have imagined my life would look like it does today. I hope no one takes this as judgement. If you have a healthy relationship with alcohol, carry on. I envy you a little bit.
1x conversion on the dad bike. Old school downhill mountain bike parts definitely make your dorky dad bike faster 🚴♂️💨 now I think the forks need to be painted black

After a couple months of pure neglect, the dad bike is getting some love tonight

Started harvesting pecans last night

Read it in 2 days while at work doing standby. Nothing too new to me really. More of an affirmation that we’re on the right path with our little farm. If you’re interested in natural farming or natural food it’s worth a read.

Just noticed that about 300 npubs dropped off of my following list. No idea how that happens but it’s a bummer. I’ve come across a lot of interesting, smaller npubs since I’ve been on Nostr and it’s going to be hard to find all of them again. If I already followed you and I start following you again I promise I’m not doing that follow-unfollow-follow thing
Liturgy at the chapel in Yosemite yesterday. My son’s first trip to Yosemite. Glory to God!
