I intend to prepare an educational series on how to develop and deploy firmware, RTOS, custom Linux systems on embedded targets that contain only the application the developers wishes to have with none of the fat, none of the excesses nor dependencies no one fully controls. Deploy a bespoke system with only the code you need. The goal here is to show that this is not as intimidating as some might imagine and to encourage developers to unsissify themselves. My father-in-law is an engineer. He is insanely gifted. We were looking yesterday at embedded devices using hardware RNG with high entropy. I asked him what it would cost to build such a device today. I will never forget his answer… “We can’t. We don’t know how to do it.”
