Tomorrow our home’s battery storage is participating in its first VPP event, something we have been eagerly anticipating. Essentially our home will be joining a fleet of other homes to form a ‘virtual power plant’ and support the grid during this heatwave. In total there are 1441 homes taking part for two hours, and we’ll be compensated for the energy we provide. Very cool. It feels appropriate to use those funds for #bitcoin. #energy #massachusetts #newengland

We are excited to be documenting the progress of an old Japanese timber frame that has now been relocated to Western #massachusetts and after a few repairs will become part of our builder’s new shop space in Tyringham, MA. This is a 150 year-old 'kura' or storehouse that was previously part of a silk mill in Shinshiro. The process was managed by the North American branch of Kominka Collective, a not-for-profit company who specialize in saving Japanese kominka, cottages, studios, and traditional materials that would have otherwise been destroyed.
