FYI, I just published Dangerous History Podcast Ep. 279, featuring a conversation with James Corbett of the Corbett Report about his recently published book, Reportage: Essays on the New World Order.

To celebrate 4/20, I've reissued (for a limited time) Dangerous History Ep. 184, which is a talk I gave in 2019 - a live DHP Villains feature on Harry Anslinger, the man most responsible for the US government's war on cannabis.

Happy REAL declaration of independence day! 250 years ago, on 4/19/1775, thousands of average Americans, acting on their own local initiative, confronted the Redcoats & declared their independence with blood & bullets. (The fancy powdered-wig guys in Philly would take almost 15 months to catch up & declare it with ink & parchment.)
To commemorate, I've just reissued Dangerous History Ep. 59 (made a decade ago!), which is part II of my American Revolution series.

“There are twenty million Germans too many.”
-French PM Georges Clemenceau, Dec.1918, on keeping the starvation blockade against Germany despite the armistice
I just can’t imagine why the Germans would be spoiling for revenge a generation later. 🤷♂️
In case you missed it, yesterday I dropped a new DHP Woodrow Wilson episode.
In this one, he makes the most important & worst decision of his life, a decision that’s still negatively impacting the US & much of the rest of the world to this day: getting the US into WW1.
I just dropped Dangerous History Podcast Ep. 278: DHP Villains: Woodrow Wilson Pt.14 -- in this plus-sized episode, he gets us into war. Grab it while it's hot & fresh!

Almost all of the next (XXL-sized) Woodrow Wilson episode of Dangerous History is recorded, & I've also edited a good chunk of what I've recorded so far. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to get it all done & published during the first half of the coming week. 🤞
“To whom does war bring prosperity? Not to the soldier who ... shoulders his musket and goes into the trench, there to shed his blood and to die if necessary; not to the brokenhearted widow who waits for the return of the mangled body of her husband; not to the mother who weeps at the death of her brave boy; not to the little children who shiver with cold; not to the babe who suffers from hunger; nor to the millions of mothers and daughters who carry broken hearts to their graves. War brings no prosperity to the great mass of common and patriotic citizens... War brings prosperity to the stock gambler on Wall Street--to those who are already in possession of more wealth than can be realized or enjoyed."
-Sen. George Norris (R-NE), speaking against the US getting into WWI, Apr. 4th, 1917
In case anyone is wondering why the next Woodrow Wilson episode isn’t out yet, the answer is that I’ve been battling an eye infection that has made it very difficult to do things like read & work on my computer. I’ve been on antibiotics for a couple days now & hopefully in another couple days I’ll be doing a lot better.
The fun never ends. 🤦♂️
Check out my latest DHP episode - a conversation with Alex Von Sternberg of History Impossible, who lives in the LA area & recently put out an episode about natural disasters & their significant-but-oft-overlooked social & political effects.
