Mobile internet is shut down in some areas by the government for no clear reason. It's insane. How many days in July were there interruptions in mobile Internet in Russian regions? green: 1-10 days, purple: 11-20 days, orange: 21-26 days, red: 27-31 days, yellow: no data. image #Russia #censorship #shutdown #internet #mobile Data source

#GM Russian ad for digital surveillance of migrants. At the end, the taxi driver dropped the dog off because the dog wanted to pay with untraceable cash. By the way, paying with #bitcoin is also prohibited in Russia.

Finally figured #AlbyHub and #AlbyGo out. Now I can #zap, and I can receive zaps too! In comparison with Telegram which takes 15% fee on transaction of stars, #Nostr with sats looks much better.

I set up an #albyhub node, but to open my first lightning channel I asked to send... Lightning! How can I do it if I obviously have no lightning yet?! Also I see only one way to buy BTC in the AlbyHub, which is not working in my case. Ok, I see a little button in a distant corner "Node/advanced/Deposit Bitcoin". Is it safe to recieve btc with it (from my btc wallet), if I have no open channels yet? @Alby @Alby #alby #asknostr

1. How #cashu prevents double-spending, when offline? 2. Alice has a mint, and when she pays Bob, he gets nuts issued by Alice's mint, right? What if Alice's mint gets down, how Bob can get BTC then? @calle

This beautiful map shows the number of days with internet shutdowns in Russian regions in May+June. For example, there was no mobile internet in a big part of a city for 20 days in Nizhny Novgorod and Omsk. Such record regions are colored black. #Russia #internetShutdown #censorship image

A way towards to a #decentralized, community-driven #VPN service inspired by #nostr. Currently functional on Linux, Mac, Android, and likely Windows with #xray servers and clients. With #VLESSmixer the first server knows the user's IP address but not the destination websites, while the second server knows the destination websites but not the user's IP address. https://git.sr.ht/~atom4peace/vless-mixer/tree/master/item/Readme.md image

#VLESSmixer #anonymity Suppose one has two #vpn (vless-reality proxy servers) but doesn't trust them. Vless-mixer does this: `Browser -> Server1 -> Server2 -> Web` The first server sees the user's IP address but does not know which websites the user is visiting. The second server sees the websites but only sees the first server's IP address as the client. How to Use (Linux) 1. Install `dhall-to-json`: This should be available in your repository. 2. Download the `vless-mixer` project: Choose the latest commit and download the `.tar.gz` file. 3. Create Configuration Files: Create `server1.dhall` and `server2.dhall` files similar to `server-example.dhall` from the VLESS links for different servers. 4. Generate JSON Configuration: ```dhall-to-json --explain --file config.dhall > config.json``` 5. Start Xray: ```xray -c config.json``` Connect to the SOCKS proxy at `127.0.0.1:1080` https://git.sr.ht/~atom4peace/vless-mixer/tree

Today I boil over because of #bash. Why`int` is not infinite in length, like Integer in #Haskell? Why`xxd` does not hex dump in one line without spaces and line breaks, and one have to write`xxd -p -c 9999` ? Why I expected such behavior from them, I wonder myself.

A year ago, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was murdered. He was killed in a prison in the Arctic Circle. A year later, no one has investigated his murder because everyone knows who wanted him dead the most. #Putin #Navalny #Russia #censorship

You know, #Apple has blocked a lot of #VPN and media apps in App Store in #Russia. Obviously, it's not ok. What Big Tech should do in dictatorships? Leaders of Russian opposition Vladimir Kara-Murza, Yulia Navalnaya and Ilya Yashin answers: 1: Put human rights first. Dictators’ “laws” are not legitimate under international standards. 2: Focus on real-world outcomes. Companies must consider the practical consequences of their actions on users and aim to protect them. Data-localization laws exist in many democracies to protect user data, but dictatorships use similar laws to target dissidents and fuel repression. 3: Establish mechanisms for dialogue with civil society. To understand how a law might harm users, tech companies should consult with users and their representatives. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2025/02/03/kara-murza-navalnaya-yashin-dictators-tech/ #censorship #socialmedia
