Alan Greenspan, RIP 6/22/26. Interesting stuff about him. In the early 1950s, Greenspan began an association with novelist and Objectivist philosopher Ayn Rand.[71] Greenspan was introduced to Rand by his first wife, Joan Mitchell. Rand nicknamed Greenspan "the undertaker" because of his penchant for dark clothing and reserved demeanor. Although Greenspan was initially a logical positivist,[72] he was converted to Rand's philosophy of Objectivism by her associate Nathaniel Branden. He became one of the members of Rand's inner circle, the Ayn Rand Collective, who read Atlas Shrugged while it was being written. During the 1950s and 1960s, Greenspan was a proponent of Objectivism, writing articles for Objectivist newsletters and contributing several essays for Rand's 1966 book Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal including an essay supporting the gold standard.[73][74] During the 1960s, Greenspan offered a ten-lecture course, "The Economics of a Free Society", under the auspices of the Nathaniel Branden Institute. The course highlighted the causes of prosperity and depression, the consequences of government intervention, and the fallacies of collectivist economics.[75] Rand stood beside him at his 1974 swearing-in as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers.[76] Greenspan and Rand remained friends until her death in 1982.[71]
Watching the news at our hotel gave me some thoughts. Seems a lot of people are stuck in a negative cultured mindset. A lot has to do with upbringing and who you associate with. Looking back on my life as a 56 year old, my teenage culture was way different than military culture. As well, my W2 employee culture is way different than my entrepreneurial culture. Before I became an AMSOIL dealer I wanted to just get a job. Now after 26 years as an entrepreneur I can say that I couldn't effectively work at a job, my culture has changed. This did not happen overnight. In the beginning I knew I wanted something different, but I didn't know how and I sure wasn't the most patient person. I relied on mentors and belief that if I continued doing what others had done to be successful that I too would be successful. One of my thoughts was when thinking about my mentor David Bell, a top level AMSOIL Dealer. He would send out a letter every once in a while with a copy of their check... The last one he sent was from 2007 and it was $25,000 for the month. I said, even if I'm 1/2 as successful as he was I think I could be okay with $12,500 for the month. Change your culture, surround yourself with successful and positive people and your life will change. #ThinkDifferently
I think my wife hates that I am on the spectrum with my logical mind. And why do all Airbnb's suck in one way or another? Fucking stove was janky and now the curtains block the janky window AC so I am trying to rig up something to allow the ac to get in the room, but now my wife is pissed because she's bitching about it. Might sleep in the truck tonight.
