They say you can stave off hunger by making sure to have enough protein.
Well, I have plenty of that in my fridge. Per this logic, I should never want chocolate or candy.
Turns out I still do.
I also crave wine and other things that the body doesn't need.

It looks like most jam session events rely on a core group of musicians to get the jam started and to keep it going.
Somewhat inconvenient for me, since the idea was to create a meeting place to form that group in the first place.
The right circumstances for what I want to do never seem to exist. It's frustrating. It's like reading books on how to start a business, only to realise that it's written by and for people whose circumstances were already pretty ideal for that.
You almost get the impression sometimes that people who get what they want in life are completely unaware of how much random chance contributed to their success.
You don't see many people giving advice on creating the right circumstances, because that's rather difficult to do.
The self-made man is a bit like Bigfoot. There are plenty of stories about Bigfoot out there, but no one you personally know has ever encountered him.
Believe it or not, MtGox, the old BTC exchange that died 10 years ago and has been in legal proceedings ever since, actually sent some money.
Largest sum I've ever received to my PayPal. Enough to pay almost two months' rent, and as I understand it, more is on the way.
Christmas gift 🥳
Oh wow, my fedi feed is quiet today
I think Jim Carrey signed off. You can't find a Twitter account or any social media account currently.
Somebody hired me to produce music for an ad. His team had some music they liked but they couldn't use it for legal reasons.

If we can talk of an "#AuDHD spectrum", I lean a bit left here. The autism side isn't as pronounced. Symptoms of both have also gotten milder over the years. I'm a bit less spicy than I used to be. Anyone else?

more on what Threads is planning. it's interesting that people dislike federation so much that they're asking users to opt in. this is a big lesson. people want control.

Threads posts that you would never in a million years see on Mastodon

if only hotels were as cheap as plane tickets. it doesn't cost me much to fly to Rome but beds are expensive.
i i lean toward having trans people in the "mental disorder" category
i have a mental disorder myself but i'm not under the mistaken impression that this is healthy and normal, or that it should have its own flag.
by all means, go off and do your thing. but you're not a woman. sorry.
one reason https://berserker.town, the instance i run, is unpopular is because it occupies the middle ground. i'm a centrist and moderate. i'm just running a service here. like a bar. you can talk about anything at a bar. old fashioned Internet service. i'm just the bartender.
in the back of my mind, i'm kind of considering going back to No Agenda Social, where i used to live, but it has too many retarder far-right Americans.
i lean further right than the average Mastodon user but only because i'm a centrist.
what's the big deal about men wearing skirts?
they've been wearing skirts and getting balls into holes for CENTURIES in Scotland, and no one made a fuss about it.
jeg feis høyt på trikkestoppen. nå kan jeg ikke se noen av mine medpassasjerer i øynene. 😔
sex in Norway: female influencers are telling girls to go all natural for protection. meanwhile, polygamy is increasingly popular among young people, abortion rates are skyrocketing and birth rates are plummeting.
sexual liberation? sure, but the numbers aren't adding up.
one side effect of getting a bit older
you find yourself confronted with a 20 year old who disagrees with you, and you very much want to tell them "i used to think like you but then i thought about it for another 20 years" but you can't
there isn't much good to say about a stomach ache. no one's happy to have one. it just sucks.
things i'd do if i didn't hate maintaining code: give Mastodon the infinitely scrolling Trending page it's so sorely missing. as far as i can tell, the current one isn't even federated. fairly useless for small instances. also can't find an admin-configurable way of completely disabling moderation for hashtags and trending posts. also, search ought to be federated and it should be possible to sort by popularity. yes, i have disagreements with the philosophy behind Mastodon. why do you ask?
