We shifted gears but that has no effect on the road
The timeline remains

Buckle up
Things have not changed

I prefer complete and utter ridiculousness
White hat hackers are a particularly valuable community in helping to secure critical satellite infrastructure, argues Pavur. “There is a mindset of security through obscurity. But a sufficiently motivated adversary will find an ‘exploit’,” he says. Far better to discover those vulnerabilities first and fix them rather than trying to shelter in obscurity.
Security through obscurity is a concept in security engineering that relies on the notion of keeping the design or implementation of a system or component secret as the primary means of providing security. It is based on the belief that by keeping the inner workings of a system hidden, potential attackers will be deterred or find it more difficult to discover vulnerabilities.
On the other hand, open source which refers to a development approach where the design, (source code) and processes are made publicly accessible. It promotes transparency, collaboration, and community involvement in the development and improvement of software or systems.
When addressing a problem or vulnerability in an open environment, where the details are shared publicly, there are certain advantages. By openly discussing and fixing issues, the collective knowledge and expertise of the community can contribute to identifying weaknesses and proposing effective solutions.
This collaborative approach allows for peer review and scrutiny, enhancing the overall security of the system.
Conversely, relying solely on secrecy and proprietary methods (or the opposite) may create a false sense of security in itself.
Furthermore by openly addressing vulnerabilities, there is a risk that attackers can find alternative exploits for said vulnerabilities. They can study the collective's behavior, understand the methodology used for adjustments, and potentially find alternative methods of attack. Not to mention, use the information collected on flaws in one system, that is open sourced, to compromise an entirely different system (that may or may not be open sourced).
What changed?
Nothing...
