2 months ago vs now. years to go! we now have internet, solar power, potable water, a backup water system in the works, a clean humble bathroom with a shower, an outdoor camp style kitchen with a refrigerator, lights, and a lot more waterproofing and foundational security on the structure. We have no permission. i can now live onsite pretty comfortably, which is a 0 to 1 improvement for the build. The goal is not material things but moreso delineating spaces and increasing quality of life in the citadel. soon I’ll be building some walls and beginning to close the structure, installing a much more robust water system, windows, conduit, all in due process. never underestimate the compounding effect of small consistent effort or the negative compounding effects of neglect. most days i don’t feel I make tremendous progress, and often discover new problems that need attention, delaying timelines. all part of the fun, the magic is just spending time outside building. most people would probably opt for the furnished condo or the single family mortgage. for me i think the end goal is a multiyear art project, during which I’m going to learn how to build all kinds of things. to look at the world around you, and have a generally correct understanding of how everything was constructed, that’s the superpower i want.

so you stacked bitcoin, now what? scoop some land with a natural water source and a view. anywhere. remote is good. low to no building regulations or nosy neighbors is good. doesn’t have to be expensive or have infrastructure or buildings at all, just a campable spot you enjoy and can develop and live on in the future start small. it’s the project of a lifetime. your descendants will thank you. worst case scenario you have a private campsite for you and yours. best case you build a citadel community. image

nothing on the citadel gets “wasted”, it just gets relegated downward as better structures come online big new tent? cool, small old tent to host friends. new gas grill? cool, old charcoal grill goes to guest residence. we iterate and the comfort level for the community grows slowly
