A while back, the big craze in #tech was #blockchain. Everyone was going to use blockchain everywhere and it was going to solve everything. Now it's #AI, which has a more gripping narative that contrasts the potential upsides with the doom and gloom. The fact that it doesn't work very well (in so many ways) is ignored because "it'll get better". Next is going to be #quantum #computers. The discourse will look very similar to the current AI conversation. There will be articles written about the wonderful breakthroughs that will be unlocked and others talking about the totalitarian state that it will enable. I have some real world numbers I can share about trying to join the #bitcoin #CircularEconomy, based on personal experience. I sold a couple more #Signets today. Of the 100% that the buyer paid, I got a bit under 80% and then paid 5% in shipping it to them. The rest went to eBay. Contrast that to if they had paid in #Bitcoin, where I would have gotten about 86% before shipping. That's with today's fees and a reasonably fast settlement. Selling on the Artisans coop is similar to being paid directly in bitcoin. But percentages are decieving. While it looks like direct sales through #MagicWebStore and #nostr and best, I've sold nothing there. The other marketplaces give me some free marketing. It's small, but if you think about how much of a marketing campaign I could do in $20 worth of my time, the cost to benefit ratio is very much in the favor of a shared marketplace. So it looks like the traditional marketplaces are still a clear winner when it comes to a new product or seller. Unless you have s big following or a dedicated marketing team, the big marketplaces are where the traffic is and that's the only way to generate the sales. Is there somewhere that explains the #bitcoin #lightning network in simple terms? I read https://docs.zeusln.app/for-users/embedded-node/lightning-onboarding/ and it explains **how** to set up a differemt types of channels, but doesn't seem to explain: 1. What is a channel? 2. What are the different types of channels? 3. Liquidity? 4. LSP? 5. zero fee routing? 6. How or why would one "[open] a channel to other nodes"? This is supposedly an intro page, but it was clearly written by lightning developers who have seemingly been using lightning network for years. I want the guide that was written by someone who groks the system, but was recently a complete n00b, so they won't use a bunch of jargon and assume the reader already has background knowledge of lightning.

I just watched two interviews with RFK Jr and a few things stuck out: 1. He said some totally fucked up things like people with autism will never get a job or go on a date. Srsly, GFY dude 2. He seemed to hit the nail on the head for a lot of issues 3. I appreciate his focus on issues that bring people together He also made wild claims like we could just solve most of the chronic health problems of Americans. I am making the #signet client work better with screen readers. I've made a good amount of progress, but if annyone knows what I have to do to a QLabel to get screen readers to read the text, please let me know! I'm currently using QT5. The label has instructions/status messages like "Scanning for device..." or "Enter device password". I guess I could cheat and make the AccessibleName be "Enter device password..." I already have a hack for reading "labels" when there are not any inputs on the screen.
