I'm eyeing a pair of 64GB ECC DDR4 sticks for $610. Before I pull the trigger on this, is there anyone out there on Nostr who can match that? Or even come close? They need to be 64GB in a single stick. That's non-negotiable.

At the past 2600 meeting it occurred to me that I'm almost exclusively using decentralized communications now. I still have a limited number of people I know that haven't upgraded from Signal to Matrix, but other than that it's Nostr, ActivityPub, Jitsi, Meshtastic, and self-hosted email. No more Discord, Twitter/X, Zoom, GDrive. I never got into the Zuck platforms (Facebook, Insta, etc.), nor TikTok. It honestly feels really refreshing to be free of these corporations. #freedom

Today I want to give a shoutout to @kidwarp, a fellow gardener, open source fan, and lover of freedom. We have a lot in common, and at the same time, we also *very* different opinions about some things. But that doesn't get in the way of us hanging out online together. And that's a rare quality these days, to be able to still respect people with whom you disagree. I feel like the world needs more of that. So if you also think that a difference of opinion doesn't warrant an ad hominem attack, check out his profile and see if you agree that he's worth following. This is how you find out about interesting people on decentralized social networks. When you see someone being excellent to one another, you share it with others, be that by a boost or a post.

@ManiMe You need to solve this discoverability problem pronto, mate. I want to recommend Nostr to people I know, but if they don't see the content they want, and they only see the trolls and propaganda, they likely will not come back for years, if at all. IMO, this is an even bigger problem with Nostr than the lack of privacy, which is really saying something. Related: I'm considering doing another meshtastic class, this time leaning into the cypherpunk culture aspect to expose people to those ideas.

It's refreshing to see real pictures of people putting in real work. True craftanship can't be replicated by a computer, there's skill involved, and always a risk of ruining the work by making mistake. A CNC or an AI created project may be less expensive, but put another way: it's less valuable. In any case, it lacks the character of something that's hand crafted. I like that people have choices of whether they want something cheap or something that's high quality. That choice only exists if there are true craftsmen out there. This is a long shot, but does anyone out there have a LoStik? I can't pick up any #LoRa packets from the local #Meshtastic traffic and I'm not sure if my device is fried or if I'm just doing something wrong. It'd be great to have a buddy check on this. My code is here:

Has anyone here actually transmitted a lightning transaction over Meshtastic? I'm not looking for what someone read about, or someone theorizing that it could be done. I'm looking for first hand experience. The things that I've bumped into are things like this:

Which is cool, but it leaves out key details like: how did they create that transaction and get those hex bytes? I feel like this could be a fun demo even if it was going from a laptop in a field with a meshtastic radio connected. Then people could progress to getting the same to work in a mobile app, or add in e-cash support, or whatever. We need more people to make the plunge to becoming builders. Not just proof-of-concept builders, but the real kind, who can handle doing more than a one-off demo that nobody can reproduce.

Not much time for social media today. Swapped out a couple of bike tyres, blew out a tube, called 5 bike shops before I found a tube that was "close enough", installed said tube. Set up the garden hoses, discovered the patio sink faucet leaks, found that the 1->4 hose splitter/switch broke. Still left to do: Need to repair a gutter, figure out how the wasps are getting in, clean out the trash bin and set up the patio. Spring has arrived.

Free advice for anyone who has a newsletter: if you want to expand your audience, write in a way that your subscribers can forward it on to their sister, uncle and friends. I'm not going to call anyone out by name, but if you have a bunch of assumptions built in, know that it is limiting your reach. I've seen multiple examples where I wanted to forward it along, but it just wouldn't resonate with the average person. If you're just interested in preaching to choir, then you should ignore this advice. It's probably plently profitable to cater to your base. The real question is why do you do it? Is it because you want to make a real impact, or for the money? Either is fine, just make sure you're hitting what you're aiming for. Or don't. It's your call.

If you think bitcoin is the only way to beat inflation, you might want to do your own research. If you're running around telling everyone bitcoin is the only way to beat inflation... please stop, for everyone's sake, but most of all, for yours.

I also need to update LNBits, because it always says paents succeed, when when the underlying light ing node tells LNBits that the payment failed. No point in reporting this until I'm on the latest release.
