Guess I overreacted a bit about Apple working with the Aus gov to restrict adult content. Although the block against adult content was completely bypassing any VPN or proxy, but it may just have been a localized blocklist of known domains. And the actual web history wasn't phoning home. I did my best to block every known Apple endpoint possible, so there was zero egress activity, and some requests to select domains that have the same initials as the Philippines, were nuked. This lead me to believe the blocklist had to be local, saved within iOS/macOS itself. Either way, it is still a scary precedent as it means Apple in conjunction with any government can now blackhole access to any domain they want, without any way to side-step the block. VPNs and proxies are effectively even more pointless with Apple products than they already were. Sad.
