“You can just do [x]” is such a powerful meme and a reason why I love nostr. Human agency is so powerful. If you don’t like the way something is, build something better.

I deleted my Twitter account in May 2023. I realized that I had no interest in giving them my data for free, nor did I want to pay $8/month for full access. Doomscrolling was making my life worse, not better. Now with nostr, I give my data freely because it’s accessible to anyone. I pay way more than $8/month to nostr:nprofile1qqs9xtvrphl7p8qnua0gk9zusft33lqjkqqr7cwkr6g8wusu0lle8jcq9vhrm and nostr:nprofile1qqsraldwhvwcjgltmxwfu7kw8dqef2692yhzheuurd7k3kfy8cxjdqg9cvnm5. Zaps alone are at least $20/month 😅. But it’s a different mindset. You choose what you pay for. You pay for apps that you believe in. You pay for the content you want to see more of. I get a lot of value from nostr and I’m happy to give back. #value4value

"Arguably, in expectation, a dentist is considerably richer than the rock musician who is driven in a pink Rolls Royce, the speculator who bids up the price of impressionist paintings, or the entrepreneur who collects private jets. For one cannot consider a profession without taking into account the average of the people who enter it, not the sample of those who have succeeded in it." "Now the civil servant called the trades that ended up as losers “gross mistakes,” just like journalists call decisions that end up costing a candidate his election a “mistake.” I will repeat this point until I get hoarse: A mistake is not something to be determined after the fact, but in the light of the information until that point."
