This is French television and you would not have someone who says “we should separate money and state” speak for 30 minutes unless their daughter was almost kidnapped. You can tell the journalists/commentators are in a state of panic, just like in ‘Atlas Shrugged’ whenever one of the Washington policy makers talk to industrialist Hank Rearden.

Visited the facinating currency museum of the Bank of Japan in Tokyo. Unfortunately you’re not allowed to take pictures during the visit. But the audio guide is here: https://mguide.jp/2/kahei01?lang=en#/ Very cool-looking oval-shaped coins (oban) during the shogunate and progressive reduction of gold content from 18g in 1601 to 2g in 1869. [audio 20] Money printing during the civil war following the transition to the Meiji period, leading to inflation. [audio 44] Introduction of the yen in gold coins (the 20-yen gold coin looked awesome, straight out of John Wick). Introduction of a gold standard in 1897, abandoned in 1931. [audio 52] Examples of hyperinflations [audio 55]: “Historically, hyperinflations emerged when a central bank lent too much money to the government or governmental institutions”

Dubai travel tip: If stuck in the airport between 2 planes, get out, order an uber and go chill in Creek Harbour (20min from the airport). Then have dinner/coffee/breakfast in front of a marina with the Burj Khalifa in the distance. image

It’s interesting that it blends a mining chip with a simple coil. So you have the flexibility to crank-up the heat when it’s really cold. My flat is well insulated so I dont need to do this. It stays in ‘eco’ mode where it only heats from the mining chip. image

1.5 years after the pre-order, the heatbit has arrived at last. Good news: it works just fine. image

For French readers: a very informative essay by Alex Stachtchenko Le role de la monnaie imprimée dans la dérive vers un état qui en fait trop, au point de détruire les libertés des individus. A lire du début jusqu’à la fin (il y en a pour au moins une heure)

If Gates did the same rebrand as Saylor, he’d just get Soft.

The language used to justify coersion “Threat to democracy” “Social responsibility” sounds like lines out of Atlas Shrugged. We understand Interpol wants to catch the bad guys. But that should not mean weakening encryption and putting everyone’s data at risk. View quoted note →

BREAKING: Macron to rename English Channel to “Mer de France”
Dubai airport check-in does not print boarding passes / luggage receipts. You have to queue at a separate counter to get paper printouts. “Hi sir, can I see your boarding pass? - Sure, let me just bring up my phone, bring up the email app, connect to wifi, wait…, click on the view now link, wait… oh there it is.” #simplicity
Soon 1000sats will be 1EUR. This makes conversions easier.
