Maybe it’s a basic question, but why is it the Bitcoin policy institute and not the crypto policy institute?” They hate the scams and the fraud, but not Bitcoin. And I broke it down for them - stables, bitcoin, and crypto - and why Bitcoin is my focus, as a progressive, and that Senator Warren should care more—for her constituents and the country. Quotes I heard so far speaking with MA dem offices and top officials “Where are we headed, what trends can you tell us about?” “He’s pro-open capital markets and pro-innovation. He likes it—but Trump’s family raises serious ethical concerns on the whole space” “The politics will be sorted. What’s the future look like?” Both questions and answers, relationships being developed. Dems know they’re behind, worried about competitiveness with China, losing voters, and losing on tech innovation.

Reflections on DC so far: - man, it is hot. Walking around in a suit, tough - it is wild to think how many world changing decisions are made in this city. It’s crazy. And being here focusing on Bitcoin — it feels really, really big - the need for @The Progressive Bitcoiner, our presence in DC, and to educate progressives and these lawmakers on bitcoin (to prevent backlash, *and* for their own constituents) is so incredibly huge and apparent. And a lot of people told us so, which is cool. Tomorrow, day on the hill meeting with Dem offices and staffers.

The issue with de minimus exemptions for bitcoin, below $600 say that Lummis proposes, is the congressional budget office. They have static scoring of budget consideration, not dynamic review that would show the possible positive reactions to this policy.

Cynthia Lummis saying cypherpunks out loud and talking about them combating NSA prosecutions of cryptography is pretty cool.
