Girona - a very special place for me This place brought me true peace, and it wasn't even amongst the popular attractions or anything like that. It was a lot of the more simple things. Quietness was the beginning point, Girona isn't all that busy and even when it is it's rather quiet and you can easily get to a more quieter place. It's also nowhere near as busy as any city in Spain, so hardly any traffic and very easy to move about from one place to the next by foot. I just walked in and found some place to prayer and be at peace. A hike into the rural landscapes of Girona, that took my out of the "old town", into the dry veld amongst the houses there and then finally deep into a forest. You can end up just wandering around in these forests, so make sure you take a GPS with you just to be able to locate yourself relative to where the old town is so you know how to return. The "basic" trails are well marked as you hike deeper you'll get less of those. There's always cycling decals spray painted on rocks and so forth so you can follow those back too as well. I did this and ended up in the way of two cyclists, mia culpa 🤷‍♂️️. This isn't to say that there are not things to see in Girona. There very much are and I made that I would at least visit some of the most well known sites. These being Girona Cathedral, Basilica De San Felix, the Arab Baths and, naturalmente O cu de Leão o qual eu dei um beijinho para boa sorte. The other aspect of Girona that's very quaint and unique to it is A praca da independência. You can arrive there in the early evening, and just people watch for a little bit, after that you can choose from about 4 or 5 different restaurants right there on the square - my favourite being 'Enjoy It' which served a good Moscow Mule. Oh, eu devo lembrar-me isto! Eu encontrei "EL RATO DO RIO" no rio no Onyar. Girona holds a special place in my heart now and I look back at it very fondly because of those moments of solitude and peace I found there. What a special place.

The next part of my trip, which would end up being my longest. There's a lot to do here but this time round, I decided I would have no plans whatsoever. I was just going to walk wherever my feet could take me - which ended up being quite far! This lead me to various places, a few blocks down from where I stayed was one of the great religious sites for us Catholics, Sagrada Familia. A Cathedral that, to this day, is still under construction following the building's original plans. From there, you can find some peace in many of the micro-parks found within the various neighbourhoods. Once you're done with that you can take yourself down to the beach, have a drink (or 2) and then make your way to the telefèrico. Where you will eventually find yourself at the top of a mount, looking over the whole of the port. Want a midday break, just walk your alcoholic beverage off and make your way to a tapas bar where you can eat as many fatias de jamon as you want. Paired with a glass of vermut negro and you'll begin your siesta estendida. Barcelona is filled with a lot of happy people, very good food at a cheap price and a lot of meaning for those who find it amongst the different Cathedrals, architecture and so forth.
Recently, I came back from a vacation in Spain and so I thought I'd write something about it and how it truly taught me how to increase steakholder value. Just kidding, the only beneficiary was me. A primeira perna da minha folga was Malaga. Now, if you want an idea of what Malaga is like then imagine Umhlanga, KZN like 15 years ago. It's actually nothing like that because one is in Zululand and the other Iberia - but imagine the _splendour_ of it all. And of course they both have praias, so that is what's common between them. The weather no sul is great, it's hot but there's enough shade alongside the streets if you're planning on walking everywhere like I did (lank bene oomblik). As ruas deles têm palmas em ambos lados 🌴️. You really can't get a more aesthetically and physically good feeling place. The food was good, very good. Meat just hits different here, ek se - weet nie hoekom. Proximo, Barcelona
Needed a basic library for doing request-response matching but didn't want to involve the networking component directly in it. Seeing as this won't (and isn't) the first time I have needed such functionality I decided to throw it all together in a well-tested and well-documented library written in D. #dlang #networking
There are a few projects I have been working on as of late: 1. Fully-dockerizing my entire homelab 2. Working with Prometheus and Grafana in order to pull in statistics from everything 3. Some libraries for an upcoming project of mine in DLang Not much to post about yet, but stuff will hopefully start being fleshed out a little bit more in the months to come.
