A sailor that enjoys sharing a life at sea 🌊
My wife @Clo and I bought this boat (which is now our home we own nothing else) six months ago in Costa Rica. She was broken having been abused and not looked after for many years by her previous caretakers/owners. There had been zero maintenance done and she was near her death bed. We knew she had another life left in her and we knew we could bring her back to life. It was going to take a lot of hard work or proof of work on our part but having done it before we knew we were up for the challenge and that the rewards at the end of it would far outweigh the sacrifice of 12hr days 7 days a week for the following six months. This is why we love this lifestyle and Bitcoin they run on the same ethos. You get out of it what you put into it. Nothing is free in life and that’s how it should be. Reward shouldn’t be given it should be earn’t and in that way you live a life that’s far more rewarding and that’s filled with gratitude 🙏 This is the reward we are now enjoying. Work hard people, take care of those you love and your health. Work to be the best person you can. Surround yourself with people that make you a better person, stack sats and your life will be filled with hope and the rewards will flow!
After 24 days at sea and sailing more than 4,200nm we arrived in Nuku Hiva! The feelings you get as you sight land on the horizon is hard to put into words. For a month there’s been nothing but an endless horizon bound by shades of blue and to finally see a green dot that grows larger over the hours is surreal. As the peaks of Nuku Hiva grew larger so did the feelings of turning around heading back out to sea. There’s something truly mesmerising about being on the ocean bound by Mother Nature free as a bird to sail in any direction you wish to point your bow. We’ll spend a few days here recovering from the lack of sleep a passage like this causes and then we plan to head further south to the Tuamotos where we’ll find a remote atoll to hangout in for a month or so. I’ll continue to update when we can and to share this magical lifestyle for all….. who knows we may inspire others to have the courage to loose sight of the land? Always remember it’s the journey not the destination. Here’s some stats for the sailors out there. We sailed 4,200nm Top speed 18.9kts Average speed 7.3kts Daily average 175nm Best 24hr run 220nm #sailstr #travel #adventure #freedom #ocean #nostr #sailing image
If the sailing lifestyle isn’t proof of work I don’t know what is? To get here in this moment of time we spent five months working 10hrs a day 7 days a week preparing the boat. The Pacific is no joke it’s around 8,000nm from Panama to the east coast of Australia. Sailing those miles is relentless as the ocean, wind and the unpredictable Mother Nature constantly wear at the boat and crew trying to find their weakest point. On the 11th of March we departed Panama bound for French Polynesia and we’re still out here over three weeks later sailing toward French Polynesia. There’s only my wife and I onboard and one of us has to be awake and on watch the entire time we are sailing. Trimming the sheets and altering the heading doesn’t stop out here. Watching the weather, making water and keeping the boats electrical systems and power working is a constant concern that never goes away. Without it we aren’t f$&ked but it would definitely make life a lot harder. The boats powered by 1.3kw of solar and this along with the wind is what’s powered and propelled us the entire way. It’s powering my phone and our sat comms to send this #sailstr #nostr #note. Before departing my wife organised months and months worth of provisioning. She made lists and spent days sourcing all the food and items we’d need. I bought spares and tried to think of all the situations we’d need to cover. For sure you can’t envision everything but you do your best gained from the years of experience you have. This is my fourth Pacific crossing however it’s by far the best. To be doing this two up with my wife on our new home has been a gift. Being at sea for weeks on end gives one clarity and space within their minds. It shows you what’s truly important and where to focus one’s time and energy. This clarity has confirmed what we’ve always felt and known and that’s that #Bitcoin is the key that will change the world and with its positive incentives it’ll make a fair and inspiring place for us all to live and grow together working towards a common goal, bettering the world for all. It empowers the individual to do better and to be better and it gives us all a base of truth to build upon that will bring us together. To steal a @Michael Saylor quote “Bitcoin is hope” And from @Lyn Alden “I woke up Today and chose rhetoric” our promise to Bitcoin and its community is that we will continue to educate people far and wide and to help awaken the world to the power of Bitcoin a monetary system based upon rules not rulers. Here’s a few pics below of the last few days. We’re hoping to arrive on Sunday which will mean we’ve done over 24 days proof of work getting here and that’s what makes this lifestyle and way of travel so unique and rewarding ⛵️ Best wishes to all from the Pacific and man is it beautiful out here this place is so worth fighting for 😁🤙
Pacific Crossing day 17 and we’re over 3200nm from Panama and have just under 1000nm to go until we reach the Marquesas Islands. All going to plan that’ll give us an arrival date of the 3rd. The last few days have seen scattered showers and some minor squalls. We’ve had winds form 4kts to 28kts and the direction has oscillated from NE and SE. Seems we’ve found some more stable air flow now and are making great time averaging over 8kts for the last five days. Boat and crew are going great however we’re a bit tired as there’s only the two of us onboard so at night we take it in turns to do what’s known as watches. My wife does from 6pm - 2am and I do from 2am - 10am then during the day we both take it in turns. Works well for us and it’s a real treat just having the two of us onboard for such a long passage. It’s a great way to discover whether you married the right women 😁 I’m happy to say I did 👍❤️ Few pics below from the last few days. #nostr #nature #sailstr #travel
1600nm down only 2500nm to go!! Crossing the pacific is a trip of endurance. One needs to take their time and to make sure they’re well prepared before setting off on such a voyage. The constant wear and tear on the boat and crew over the three to four weeks it can take can be brutal. The sea never gives up and will always find your weakest point. So far so good here’s a few pics from the last few days. #sailstr #nostr #bitcoin #simplelife
Pacific crossing update. Panama - Marquesas Islands. Coming up to day seven at sea. Just sailed through the Galápagos Islands and heading west south west. 1100nm down only 3000 to go! Life’s pretty simple out here being surrounded by the sea. It’s just sunrises and sunsets. My wife comes on watch around 5pm I sleep till 2am and then we swap and I’m on watch again till 5pm. Works great for us and we enjoy doing these passages just two up. We had around twenty small squid land on the deck the other morning early as they get scared from the boat at night and jump out of the water. Unfortunately for them but fortunately for us they sometimes land on the deck. I go around in the morning and pick them up then my wife’s cooks them up making a delicious and fresh meal out of them!! Mother Nature can be incredibly generous. Here’s a few pics from the last few days at sea. #nostr #sailing #ocean #simplelife #bitcoin
Third day at sea and we’ve had a fantastic start to the passage. Calm first evening but some great sailing the second day with a top speeds of 14kts so far during a little surf. Now the breeze has just gone light and we’re motoring for the evening until we get into some more breeze again tomorrow. Should be a traditional zone tomorrow evening then into some light trade winds just to the north east of the Galapagos. Nature has gifted us with dolphins, whales, a turtle and even a small shark swam by this morning. Amazing what you see when you’re present out here. Love how this life style connects you to the planet and the aquatic life that lives upon it. Here’s this mornings sunrise #sunrise #sailing #travel #adventure #nostr image
Day 1 - of our Pacific Crossing has been spent cleaning the bottom of the hull. If we do this we make the hull smoother and the boat far more efficient when underway and this makes travelling 4,000nm quicker and easier on the boat, you and your gear! This is where we are anchored and we’ll spend the next day or two finishing off small jobs and waiting on a solid weather window to depart in. Have to say it’s not a bad spot to do all the above in 🤙😊 image
