I've noticed that client bloat increases in proportion to popularity. It reminds me of what happened with browsers. We all abandon Netscape and go to Firebird because it has tabs or something. But then firebird gets all bloated and we go back to Netscape. Then we go IE because reasons. Then Firefox cause it's lighter. Then chrome cause firfox got bloated. The back for Firefox cause chrome is bloated and spyware. Them opera for some reason.
